I have a sick baby... I know I'm new here, but I needed to talk, and I knew you folks would understand. This morning I had to take my Jaycee girl to the vet. They kept her. The hemorrhagic gastroenteritis that she has had on four different occassions is back. She has high fever and is severly dehydrated, and is throwing up blood/ black water stools. I'm so scared! We almost lost her about six months ago from this. I just couldn't take it if something happens to her. Sounds dumb, but she's the one who has helped me get through some really hard times. I have a terminal parent (mom) living in my home, and i'm a only child trying to take care of her. Jaycee makes my day brighter. The vet called this evening and said she doesn't get to come home... He said she needs to stay. She's drinking a little bit, but still has the fever. She'll be devastated having to stay there overnight. We treat her like our child. I wanted her home tonight! I'm incredibly sad. Little bella ( the new baby- 2 pounds 6 oz) is walking around so lost without Jaycee here. She looks at Jaycee like she's her mommy. If you're the praying type, please pray for her. I need her home with me. Thank you for listening Michelle Jaycee: http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m...100_0885-2.jpg http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/100_0915.jpg Bella and Jaycee http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m...a/DSCF0151.jpg

I'm so sorry Jaycee is sick. Hope she gets a clean bill of health today a gets to come home. Our dogs give us lots of compassion during hard times in our lives. Thats why I have surrounded myself with four. And thats why we owe them visits to the vet when they are sick. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Thank you so much for the kind words. It is much appreciated. The vet called me at 8 am this morning. Jaycee is doing a little better, and they were going to introduce some food to her. If she eats it, and keeps it down, he said I could probably bring her home today. I was SO scared when the phone rang this morning. I was up most of the night with my mom (her blood pressure dropped to 60/40 and she was having troubles) so I nearly jumped out of my skin when he called me- before I had the chance to call him! Whew! Each time this has happened, I've been lucky that she's only been away from home two days max. I understand that it can be very deadly. I just don't understand much about it, and why it has affected her so badly. It makes me wonder if Bella will end up with it as well. I appreciate all of your responses. This was the right place to come! Michelle

Manolos, I talked to my husband last night about visiting Jaycee today, and although I know it would make her feel so much better, I worry it would devastate her for me to just leave her again. This lil gal is like no other dog I have ever had. She's so attached to me that she follows me all through the house, and never gets out of my sight. I guess it's because I have been away from my business for 13 months now taking care of my mom. Being here in the house all day, she is used to being at my side. I take her everywhere I go. Grocery store, pharmacy, shopping, etc. Sometimes I wonder who is more attached, Jaycee or mommy... If I don't get to bring her home, I'll just go see her anyway. I can't stand her sitting there wondering what's going on.

I know exactly how you feel, I would go take her favorite toy and blanket and rub your scent all over. This will comfort her. They are so selfless. I think they absorb our pain so that we can be stronger.Good Luck and Bless you for taking care of your mom. Lissette
