I Love Thor Donating Member | THOR to emergency room last night-hook in eye!!! Last night Thor and Izzy (lab) were playing as they do every single day and a freak acciendent happened!!! The S hook that held Izzy's rabbies tag got stuck under Thor's eye lid!!! Well my dad took Izzy's collar off, and she stayed very still for this. Then at the vet they told us that it had pierced his eye lid and there was a hole, but his eye was okay. They gave him a C collar incase he started messing with but so far he hasn't. He just finished his antibiotics from getting neutere and no he has more for his little eye wound. This is soo freaky! I have changed Izzy's ID tag and rabbies tag to a keychain type clip. Every please BEWARE of S HOOKS!! I don't want this to happen to anyone elses baby! I will keep you updated. I wish I had a picture but I don't have a camera anymore. Hannah and Thor |

That is horrible I'm so glad that he is fine. I haven't use an S hook for my dogs tags in 10 or 11 years. The last yorkie we had and a male Shih Tzu puppy we had at the time were in the back yard playing we had just moved into this house and we had them outside because they were playing under our feet and were just in the way. They hadn't been out but for maybe 10 or 15 minutes and all of a sudden it was very quite. I went to check on them and they had gotten tangled up with the S hooks from their collars and it had strangled our little Shih Tzu. My husband tried CPR on him but it was too late. All I could do was sit there and cry I cried all night. My husband kept saying he was sorry. I told him it wasn't his fault, we were just so busy trying to get things done in the house and they were underfoot so he put them outside. This was just a freak accident but, I have not used these hooks since. Sorry to dampen the mood with a sad story. Again, I'm so glad that your little guy is ok. Take care of them both.

| Oh, Hannah, I'm so, so sorry. Do you know how long little Thor has to wear the collar? That's so sad, but very lucky his eye wasn't injured. His eyelid will heal. They are pretty tough little doggies. They just aren't made of steel. Give him lotsa extra hugs from the rest of us.

I Love Thor Donating Member | Hello everyone! Yes this has been VERY scary!! Thor has been just fine today. The swelling has gone down dramatically, but is it still red and inflamed some. He is running around like his usually self, like a little mad man. We knew he would be okay when we were leaving the emergency vets office last night and even though he was all druged up he had enough livelyhood to growl at another doggie he saw coming in. (he's such a stinker!!) I am just thankful he is okay, and thank you for all the puppy and human hugs and get wells! Hannah and Thor |
