Yorkie Yakker | Runny Stool My little dog's stools have turned runny over the last 36 hours. She had been eating science diet until last week. She walked away from her bowl with her nose turned up. I thought it was just because she wanted something off my plate (home-made bread that smelled great!). But this wasn't the case. She didn't want anything. Finally, she settled on Cesear's Senior soft food. She eats about 1/4 of a can in the morning and 1/2 a can at night. This has been the case for about 10 days now. I noticed the soft stool last night, but thought nothing of it. Then tonight, she normally watches the news with me and couldn't get comfortable. She tummy was make horrible gassy sounds. It's raining out so she wouldn't think of going out side, but instead she went into her "room" and did her business. It was really runny. What can I do for her? I know she's miserable. If she were one of my kids, she'd go on a clear liquid diet until things started to firm up but I'm not sure if this the right thing for my yorkie. Please help! |

| How's your baby today? If she still has runny stools, try some canned pumpkin or check with your vet about pepto. Also, boiled chicken and rice always seems to make them feel better. Keep up informed.

| It sounds like what Brady had about a month ago. He had a couple of "accidents" in his crate and he's never done that before. He wouldn't eat even though I tried chicken, rice, etc. I sent an email to his breeder and she asked if his stool looked frothy (gas bubbles) or have a little mucous at the trailing end? He had the mucous and the dr. had prescribed "Metronidazole". The breeder agreed with giving him that and over night he was almost as good as new. I gave him the medication for about a week. The lab tests on his stool were negative but the breeder said it was probably Spirochetes which is an overgrowth of bacteria and is common in Florida where I live but she said they can get it from "bones" from pet shops. I had started giving him Bully sticks (Merrick) about a week before and she said it could have been those because they weren't wrapped in plastic. She said they lie around in warehouses where rats and roaches etc. walk all over them and who knows what else. Yuk!! She told me to keep the medication on hand all the time. I think my breeder knows more than the vets. She has been breeding Yorkies for about 40 years and she has been so helpful to me. She doesn't live in FL but I email her. Hope your baby get better soon.

| P.S. The breeder said the "accidents" were due to cramps he was gettin and couldn't help himself.

Yorkie Yakker | update I wanted to update everyone! Little dog loves the chicken and rice. She hasn't had any BM since the runny ones on Thursday. She didn't eay anything until late Friday night. Last night, she wondered over to the science diet that she always ate and started to snack. Should I be concerned about not having a BM? I'm sure that be healthy. |

| I bet she will poop soon. Whenever my dog has a case of diarrhea it takes about two days to get a poop. I guess because they are on empty. If she doesn't poop soon maybe give the vet a call for advice. Good luck.
