Default My Little one is Ill.

My Yorkie is only two months old, we just took him home this past Saturday! We have been feeding him and taking care of him exactly as we have been directed and with information we have found here on the forum. The issue is that just last night he must have thrown up and when I woke up this morning he was sniffling. I keep the area where he sleeps warm so he isnt cold and I did leave food for him to eat overnight. I have noticed he has been eating extremely fast and eager though and felt that may be a problem. The vomit is somewhat chunky and looks like food somewhat. I feed him Might Dog and Ceasar food for puppies. Please help!

Is he having diahrea too? This could be something serious. He could get dehydrated. With he sniffling, I would check to see if his shots are up to date. I got a 12 week old puppy recently the had just had the first set of shots, a few days before I got her, and she had only been wormed then that one time too.

Watch the vomiting that it doesn't keep happening
and if he gets diarrhea too

The sniffling is what is a concern
New pups can get lots of things ... some more serious than others
of course check him with your vet

Sounds like he might have a bout of kennel cough

Thanks for replaying. He has had all his shots and was dewormed when I got him. 2 weeks ago (tommorow).. I feed him 3 times a day and sometimes overnight if I notice that he hasn't been nibbling on his lil euko pebbles. He gets his anti-biotics, n something else twice a day (morning and night). I also give him nutri-cal about 2-3x a day. I've just been noticing that he wants 2 eat everything in the bowl once I put it down. The sniffles started sometime yesterday. Nothing is leaking from his nose. Just seems a lil wetter than usual (as of this morning). Its kind of freaking me out. Oh yes, he's been hic-cuping the past two days directly after he indulges on his food. It just seems 2 me he's eating wayyy to fast and not breathing in between. Any suggestions??

Sounds like he's eating too quickly...how often are you feeding? Is he so hungry...he's gulping down the food? You may want to try...feeding more frequent meals...or give him small portions at a time.

Your puppy should still be with his mom and littermates for another month. Vomiting and sniffles in an eight week old puppy can be very serious.

You mentioned you were giving him antibiotics. Have you taken your puppy to the vet or did your breeder give you the antibiotics? This puppy needs to be examined by a vet!

I had a puppy one time with these symptoms and it turned out she had worms. Take your puppy and a stool sample to the Vet. When they are this young, they can die very quickly. Your baby should have stayed with his mom till he was at least 12 weeks old, longer in some cases. His underdeveloped intestines are getting way more things than he should have. At his age, he should be on a very soft diet, preferably real food, such as some nice red meat cooked med. rare and ground. Then add a little white rice. Most Vets. will try and put them on Science Diet or some such garbage food. Don't do it. Take care of this baby yourself, but at least find out if he has worms and get that taken care of.

Default ill puppy

I agree this puppie should have never left his siblings or his mother until he was at least 11 or 12wks old as far as him gobbling down his food i think thats why he is vomiting why don't you just leave the food down for him all the time so he can free feed then he won't do this if he has food avalalbe all the time. A far as the sniffing goes he may be getting a cold if he starts coughing morning and night he has kennel cough and that is really difficult to get rid of the only cure for that is the nibulizer treatment which is 1cc of 100 ml. genamicin, 2cc's of Tyland 50 2cc's of Salene solution and 1/4 cc of the DMSO liquid then you put all this in a nibulizer cup tape the one end of the mouth piece put the other end in the front square of a carrier put him in the carrier and cover it up and let the nibulizer run until it's all gone then you would give him 1/2 cc of the genamicin ounce a day and you would do this for 5 days and it's gone this is the only thing that works for this i bought 2 dogs from Brazil and both of them came coughing a couple of years ago and i spent thousands of dollars trying to get rid of this they did all kinds of test and i even took them to the university of Minnesota and they gave me medicine that didn't work to so this one breeder who i know that has been breeding dogs for 50 yrs told me to use this and it worked right away and it never came back

Since you already have him, and he is ill, please take him to the vet fast! . He is young, tiny, and can die very easily. He is in a fraglie state, his health is not good, and his little body may not be able to fight off what is causing him to be sick. He is too young to have had all his vaccinations at 2 months old. If he has only vomited once, and has not had Dierreah then it is a better sign, however, being so young, I would still take him to your vet.
Because of his young age, and that he is a Yorkie , he may develop serious behavioral issues later down the road. Hopfully not. Right now, his health is the primary concern. Science Diet is not a good food as someone has aready mentioned. GO to the Health and diet thread and look under the Food LIst. There are excellent suggestions on high quality foods to feed, or feed homemade/but, You have to be careful with that making sure the puppy is getting all the right vitamins and nutrients.
A high quality Puppy food is best at this age free feeding .Your baby may be going too long in between feedings therefore eating too fast, gulping down the food than getting sick... He is starving by the time it's meal time. LIttle Yorkie's can only eat so much their bellies are so little, then they are hungry faster then a bigger dog would be, this is why it is easier just to free feed, esp, when they are so young and fragile . Your puppy is more likely going to over due it when he is starving at meal time then when he is not.
PLease get him on a high quality diet. What he is eating now is very poor. A yorkie does not eat much . Spending a little more on food , is worth every penny when it come to the health a quality of life . Your puppy deserves a good start in life. Also, he is going to need to start over in vaccinations.

Default sick puppy

MSCat if deffinetly correct what she is suggesting is the right thing to do for this puppy just make sure you find a small care specialist becuase some of these vets that just handle the larger dogs don't know much about the tiny ones
