| Constipated I think?? Need Advice Sophie was spayed a few days ago. Starting this morning she appears to struggle when taking a bowel movement. Then a small piece comes out but because she is struggling so much it gets wrapped up in all her hair. We have had to bathe her 3x today(lower half only) to get the poop removed from her hair. Does anyone have any advice on how to help her? I think the antibiotics may have hurt her little tummy. I am trying not to get the incision wet but its hard not to.

YT Addict | hope this helps you can give a dog milk of Magnesia (2 to 5 Ml per pound orally every 4 to 6 hours) or Mineral oil (10 to 50 ml per pound add to food) I hope this helps, you can find this info in the Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook and you can get it at Discount Pet Supplies, Pet Supply, Online Pet Supplies It is a great book, I use it all the time and everyone I know calls me asking me questions about their dogs, and I get all my info from this. Best book ever. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i'd stop the antibiotics and start her on plain low fat yogurt and maybe some non-spice canned pumpkin to help with the constipation. The antibiotics are probably upsetting her stomach

| Try pumpkin in the can! It really works! For both constipation and diarrhea. Just make sure its 100% pumpkin not the one for pumpkin pie that contain cinnamon etc. Hope this helps
