| 5th day on iv 0ur 8 month old baby girl started vomiting and sleeping lots on Wednesday.. we thought she probs had eaten something that had not agreed with her but Thursday she was no better and was not drinking anything beyond a lick of wet fingers .. so we took her to the vets who gave her a shot of anti sickness and antibiotic jab ..swab parvo test was also done which was negative and sent home with fluid replacement mix for us to give her through the night and the vet gave us appointment for next morning but as the night grew in she lay whimpering in her bed absolutely horrid to hear and see her in such a state .. so we called the vet who said to bring her straight in on arriving at vet she started with lots of black smelly watery poo he put her on iv and admitted her .. she remained in that state right through Easter on Monday the vet wanted us to give a date on when to call it a day to which i burst into tears and left hubby to listen to the rest of the call.. but on calling Tuesday the vet said she was showing some interest in what they were doing so was happy to continue with treatment i told the vet my other dog (her mom) had now started vomiting and had stopped eating/drinking .. to which she had over night stay too but came home the next morning and was advised not to let her mix with the other dogs she has 8week old baby and our 3 year old male.. vet said was unsure if it was a bacteria or virus so best to isolate ..until Friday when he will re see mom its now Thursday after calling vet just now they say no improvement with the girl in hospital we have thought and thought and can think of nothing that they have eaten out the unusual except raw hide chews as a treat .. x-rays where done and they showed nothing stuck ect.. we put the now 9 week old buyers on hold .. and mom remains one end of our house while pup and dad remain the other we are an emotional wreck to say the least .. some help and suport would be greatfully received .. vet is saying it a gastro problem .. what that means idk! anyone else been through this? .. will there be a beaming light at the end for our beutiful 8 month old? |

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | I'm so sorry you are going through this. Did the vet take any blood? What have they tested her for besides parvo? I wish I could help, but I haven't been through this myself. Hopefully, there will be more responses. Sending good thoughts your way!!

| Can you post the results to the blood panel, CBC, Spec cPL, TLI with B12 and folate and all fecal testing done? Or did they not do blood work?

| ^^ they said were going to take blood from both ..unsure if they have yet as its not showing on bill of things done so far they certainly have had plenty of samples of poo as its flowing out of her with no control still.. i did read somewhere about hge gastro with the black lose poo which is a form of blood hemorrhaging which usually stopped after 24-72hrs and usualy in older dogs..we are nearing 6 longg days of it .. so not sure if it even is that .. kind of quit reading stuff on net as it was upsetting tbh will ask vet tomorrow when mom gos back for checkup .. mom now is as bouncy as she was prior, is eating the special vet food they gave her and chewing the antibiotic pills nicely ..weeing well but still no poos! unsure if that is because she is being forced to toilet in strange area (front garden away from other dogs) thanks for support .. nice to share what we are going through.. |

| Lady has had HGE three times, but they pass bright red blood, not black poo. Black stools mean she is bleeding internally somewhere from higher up as it is going through her intestines. While scary, HGE usually responds quickly to IV therapy. Is this an eight week old puppy or an eight month old puppy? I'm a little confused by your posts. I pray the puppy will recover. |

| So are you saying the vet was thinking a couple days ago that you may need to put an end to this and no blood work results are in yet??? If the vet hasn't done blood work, it's time to find a new one.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali has HGE and then a relapse. It took days for ut to clear up and she needed Iv fluids. They did a test to determine it. I hope the baby can fight this.
