| My yorkie had reaction to shots This morning I took Bo for his round of shots. He is 4 mths. old. I noticed that afternoon he kept scratching his ears and shaking his head. His faced looked swollen too and his ears were drooping. I called vet and she said bring him in. Bo had a reaction to shots she gave him a steroid shot and benedryl shot also. He seems to be doing fine right now. The vet said when he comes back in 3 wks. for his next shots she wants him to stay the day so she can watch him. I really like our vet.

| Poor thing. We alway pre-load with Benadryl, and we do each shot separately. If you do it that way, you know what they reacted too. It's also easier on their little systems not to get everything all at once.

| I always give Lola benadryl about 1/2 hr before any shot. The rabies vaccine absolutely MUST be seperate and at least 3 weeks after any others. |

| One of Mimi's pups had an allergic reaction too. I took her to emergency & they gave her steroid shot & benadryl shot also. The doc said it could have been her 2nd round of DHPP. She also said some dogs have reaction to their 3rd shots where the 1st 2 were ok. The last round of her shots, my vet mixed anti-inflammatory w/her shots & offered to watch her. I took her home w/me, cuz I didn't want to leave her there alone. She was fine. Glad to hear that Bo is doing better!

| So glad that he is doing better. I always get steroids before the shot. Just as a precaution. |

| My girl had a bad reaction to her last round of puppy shots. She passed out cold. We could not wake her up, she was breathing very shallowly and felt really cold. It was so scary. Ever since then we always have her premedicated before any shots.

| Please remember what shot your babie had a reaction to.. I had a 5 year old that had a reaction and the following year the same vet gave the same shot and it was fatal.. so I learned it was up to me to know these things as one cannot always trust that the vet reads and looks at a babies file... Glad he is ok now... anne |
