| How Long for Cough How long has your yorkie had a cough? The day I brought him home he started to cough. It is now 5 months and he is still coughing. WHen I brought him home it was like 5 to 7 times per day....Now its down to 1 cough per day. I have taken him to the vet, he was on antibiotics for a couple of months. HE hasn't taken anything since December, the vet said to let the cough go away on its on. But its been 5 months...That is a long time. Is there anything else I can do at home...I have a humidifier with vicks....Im just worried that it can be something serious. |

| When I first brought home Momo @ 8weeks old, he got hypoglycemia...thus his immune system was shot & got kennel cough. My vet said it could've already been in his system & the hypoglycemic attack brought it out. He was sick for 3 months. Countless visits to 3 different Vets later, the last one upped the dose of amoxi-drops to 5ml from 1ml. That finally worked...but...the 5ml of antibiotics was too much for his digestive system (he was only 14 ozs). Wish I knew back then about yogurt as a pro-biotic. He's ALL GOOD now(a whopping 4 lbs). Hope your baby gets well soon. Oh, & please don't triple or quadruple his dose of anti-biotics (just because it worked for Momo)...if you're concerned (which I would be, 5 months is a long time, but his cough did reduce significantly), please see a different Vet. I think it's good to get different opinions.

| Yes, I would tell the new Vet everything, like what the other vet prescribed, how long it's been going on...into detail. When I go visit my vet, I tell him/her everything, even describing his tootsie rolls down to texture, smell, color, ect. You get my idea!

| I know what you mean...I hope the 15 mile drive will be worth it. In L.A., 15 miles is quite a drive! This link has some good info & videos of dogs w/kennel cough. Kennel Cough Let us know how it goes @ the new vet.
