| Help My Yorkie Throws up everything she eats My poor Sophie is throwing up everything she eats. I've had her to the ER vet and 2 other vets. She has had all her blood work done and everything was good. she has been on Imas low residue diet from the vet for a little over a week. she was fine the first few days and now we are back to throwing up all of her food in a few hours after eating. She is a little picky about her food. But i just did'nt give her anything esle for a day and she began to eat it. it's the dry and the kibble is a little large for she so i wet it a little for her. i just don't know what esle to do for her. i've tried really good foods. and even a few cheap ones. She can't seem to keep anything down. i cooked chicken and rice for her. For a few days she is fine and than she starts throwing up again. I feel so bad for her I know she is hugery and she just can't eat. It's been going on for over a month. Eating and trowing up 3/4 of the time. and she gets so sad looking, like she thinks I'm mad at she for being sick. She can keep her treats down when she will eat them. She as Cerenia and that's not helping her. I hope someone on here can help. Last edited by Fashionlady; 02-26-2009 at 01:02 AM. |

| Hello and Welcome to YT I can imagine what is it for you to watch her like that and b/c we had a similar problem a month ago Just Want to tell you to be brave and try whatever you can to put her back in shape. What the vets said ? Is she vomits right after she eats or bit later. Is she throwing up her food or is it a liquid (what color) ? You can check on the bag of her food is there a citric acid ingredient, if yes the added water is not good (it has to do with some reaction in their tummies) These Babies sometimes throw up if they eat more and/or when they are hungry. Cerenia is a good drug (we use it too ) but if is not working for Sophie there is no point giving it to her. How old is she and how much she weights? I’m no expert and hope someone with more knowledge will answer to your post .

The Vet seems to to think it is going to take a while to find the right food for her. and that the food is making her tummy upset. And she did blood work and said that her that everything looks good. she is healthy. She is throwing up a hour or 2 after she eats. and it is her food nothing esle no blood or yellow stuff.she's 2 1/2 years old she weights 6 1/2 pds. i have noticed if she has not eaten in a day that she will pig out and that will make her sick. i give her a little food at a time to see how she does. if she is ok for and hour or so i give her a liitle more and so on. Today she is just not eating at all. i think her tummy is upset. the vet said when she throws she is hunrgy and whats to eat but her tummy is upset so she won't eat or will eat to much and throw up. her sugar is not low at this point today. i watch her for that. She did that when she was a puppy so I know what to look for. i will give her just the treats if that is all she will eat to stop that from happening. she is drinking her water. | |

| Have you considered adding a high quality probiotic to her diet? Also, I would check with your vet and make sure that a bile acids test was done. Did you fast her for 12 hours before her last set of blood work? One more question- how old is she? Has this always been the case or is it a recent thing?

| It sounds like just a blood panel was done. Could you post the results and see if any other blood work was done?

| she is 2 1/2 years old and this just started in the last month or so ago. what test should i ask for them to do? she is still playful. she is also a picky eatter at she as always been. i try not to give her wet food because if i do she won't eat the dry and she doesn't like hard treats at all. and i have tried them all. | I would absolutely get a bile acids test done (ask for it by name) and possible a protein c test. At that age, she could have developed allergies to a common ingredient in the food that is resulting in a food intolerance.

So much info here. i'm going to call her vet tomorrow and find out all the test that were done. i'm hoping it is just a matter of finding the right food for her. |
