Fluid? One of my puppies that was born last night sounds conjected is the best way to describe it. Could he have fluid still? If so can I try to suction? Or what should I do?

I'm not sure about this since the pup isn't freshly born but is still less than a day old. Anyway, here's a link...it describes the swinging motion to help clear the lungs...the info is about halfway down the page. Hope this helps...Breeding Dogs and Raising Puppies ~ Pawprints and Purrs, Inc.

Oh you have been so nice thank you for your help. He seems to sound better today, he might have just been sucking because that was kinda the noise he was making. Today I dont hear nothing, but should I get their tails and dew claws done at four days? Their weight is 5.2 and the smallest is 4.4 oz. When is the best range to give their first shots? Thanks again, Christina

Most have the tails and dewclaws done at 3-5 days. If a pup isn't thriving or is extra tiny, it can be delayed. Puppy shots usually start (for Yorkies) at about 8-9 weeks. You want to wait a couple of weeks after they are weaned as they still have antibodies from the Mom. If you give a shot earlier, it does no good as the titer (antibody) count would still be high from the Mom. Shots are then spaced 3-4 weeks apart.
