| Excessive drooling Luca, our 4 1/2 mo, 5 1/5 lb, puppy has and eye ulcer (from littermate scratch) that we have been treating since we got him Dec 30th. Anyway, he started drooling, excessively, and we thought it was the meds (they've changed them twice). I think it may be teething but no one I talk to has ever had a Yorkie drool that badly while teething. He is perfect other than that. He eats, sleeps, pees, poops, plays and fights as usual. I see no difference other than he wants to chew everything in sight. Annabella did this too. She is now almost 9 mos old. The vet looked in his mouth and did not find any foreign object and of course, he IS teething. He doesn;t drool at night, only when he is awake. Clear water will drip from the corners of his mouth. I thought , at first, that he was swimming in his water bowl but that is not the case. His little mouth hairs are always wet. There is no odor and he show no sign of pain except for his eye. Could it be because I keep putting stuff in his eye? I don;t think his eye hurts, it may be blurry from the salve I have to use. He only opens it all the way after I put artificial tears in. He looks so pitiful. Have another app with vet on Thursday. |

| It may be teething but there can be other causes for drooling. Does he ever get shaky? Is he a picky eater? Does he ever run into things?

| No, no, and only his zoomie sister! He shows NO signs that anything is wrong at all. Could it be just putting 3 meds, 3 x a day into his eye? He eats anything, (good and bad LOL), plays with Annabella like there's no tomorrow, gets into trouble all the time. I watch him for signs of illness but he is the same, except for his eye. I even bathed, dried and brushed him yesterday and except for wanting out of the water and being cold, he did very well. Loves to be cuddled. Sleeps with us all night (no drooling then). |

| I read that drooling was a sign of poisoning but he has NO other sign. He sleeps and plays and eats. He runs to the door with Annabella after noises and to go potty. He jumps on the chair and hides from her. He takes chewies and toys from her, as she does from him. I am clueless. |

| Pasquale drools ..but only when he is around another dog. He gets overly excited and i think since he is teething and has a couple extra teeth in there that need to be removed...it only adds to it. But its ONLY when he's around another dog...otherwise he doesnt.

| So far I have not seen Suzi ever drool. She pants when excited or nervous though. I know human babies drool when teething and other dog breeds Drool too. The only thing i can think of is if there was a swallowing problem? Or maybe he just has not learned to swallow extra drool? Or a narrowing of the throat? These are just guessess, I really do not know. I hope it is nothing serious.

| I have and the only time I have seen excessive drooling is when they have a heart murmur, they build up water in the chest. My Buffy has it and her heart murmur was not caught until she was 5 yrs old. Tell your vet and see what he or she thinks.

| When Zoe was drooling so bad, we took her to the vet and it was determined she was allergic to her flea med. She was on Comfortis, the monthly pill. Once we changed over to a topical flea med, no more drooling!! It was definitely the meds. Don't know what flea med your pup is on, but if it's Comfortis; this is a possibility for the drooling!
