| Won't poop with 30 below windchills and a foot of snow Anybody else have concerns about their yorkie and all the snow?? We have about 14 inches outside right now, and my dog didn't poop for 2 days until he finally pooped in the apartment. I take him out for less than a minute and he is shaking and doing a funny limp thing (I'm guessing it's because his paws get terribly cold). I put a coat on him, but when it's on, he'll even refuse to pee outside. I took him out last night at 10 with his coat, he didn't do anything, and then took him out at 11 without a coat and he peed immediately. But he won't poop. When he "pops a squat" he breaks through the snow and can't get out. I cleared a spot for him, a large spot for him so he has room to explore to find the "right spot" to mark. And he won't poop. He looks at me like I'm nuts. Finally, two days later, he went in the apartment. I feel dirty but I was glad when he finally did. I know if I let him stay outside long enough, he would eventually "pop a squat" but it's just too cold with 30 below windchills predicted. Does anyone else have this issue with all the snow and cold? How do you get them to poop? Should I just "break the rules" for these next few days because of the cold and 14 inches of snow? He will pee outside...not in the grass but in the parking lot or sidewalk where the snow is packed down but pooping he won't do. Thanks!

| Sorry, I can't be much help since we live in Texas, but I wanted to just say...poor baby! OMGosh! I think I would have a problem too. We use potty pads inside the house, so I'm no help at all.

| I can so relate where you are coming from It was -22* this morning WITHOUT the wind chill. We are supposed to be -30-35* overnight tonight. We have a ton of snow also. I have to shovel a good size area of my lawn or Lola won't go either. I always put a coat/sweater on her in this bitter cold. I have boots for her also but she won't wear them. This morning when I took her out she came into the house limping I think her feet may have stuck to the snow. She's been sleeping since and hasn't even asked to go out. She won't use a pee pad but I think I may try it again. It's just too cold for anyone! |

| I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't get mad right now if they poop or pee in the apartment. Mine is pee pad trained and when I leave him to go to class and work I put a pee pad out on the floor and he will go there during the day...but if somebody's here, he won't go on the pad. He will bother you and bother you till you take him out. He must've really had to poop in order to drop some in the apartment yesterday...I was just thankful he FINALLY did. And glad to know I'm not the only one that is letting him get away with it right now

| we understand! it is -20 here this morning without the windchill. Usually if Layla wants to go out- she rings her bell by the door but sometimes i'll find some poop down by the door and she hasn't rung the bell.. and i can't blame her- i hate going out there too and i know she KNOWS she was supposed to go outside- it doesn't happen often but lately it has been just bitterly cold so i wouldn't be upset if she started doing it more often until the temps come back up. |

| Mine are still going outside... they LOVE it. This morning it was 6 degrees! No problem for them. Its supposed to be in the negatives tonight, wonder if they will go out then! They did pee a lot last night though and both of them went out about 3x and both went on their pee pad at least once in the house. Weird how much they peed. They both pooped outside though. Tonight might be a different story!

| When I open the door here for potty time they all stand on the top step and look at me like " thats alright Mom, you go! We'll be waiting here for you IF you make it back"... It was 42 below this morning with the windchill, during the winter months when it gets this cold all of my babies use litter boxes. It means alittle more cleaning for me but at least my babies are staying warm and I don't have to worry about frost bitten paws. Besides with the air that cold it is hard on their little lungs.

| HI, I can't blame him.... I have a 2 yr old that I finally had to break down and get puddle pads for. He loves to walk and will do his business then. First thing in the morning he races to the back door to be let out for his morning pee. Then he let's me know after breakfast that he's ready for his walk. With it being so bitter lately he takes a few steps out and then it's right back in and straght to the pad. If I don't see him use it he is right in my face letting me know that has has gone. It's so funny.. to me it's like a skin baby of 2 announcing that the peed on the potty. As long as he goes where he should I just say good boy and put a new pad down. I know that as soon as the temps go up he will be right back to his outdoor routine. Gotta love these little guys. |

| oooh just a warning about the ice and such...when you take your little furbabies out...try and wash off their paws afterwards...my dog came in today with salt all over his paws and he always ALWAYS goes straight to licking his paws...I am so afraid that he will ingest that stuff, so I always wash his paws off thoroughly. Just a heads up Never hurts to be too careful!!

| Oh yes, the bitter cold potty breaks...I say the magic word..."HURRY"...he runs out the door and within a minute he has both peed and pooped and has come back to the door to be let in for his poopy treat. But you all have to understand, Winston will explode before he'd even think about going potty in the house...he has been that way since the day I brought him home at 8 weeks old. He knows he has to go, and has go in a hurry. I won't allow him out for any length of time with temps this cold...so it's now or later...he generally chooses NOW!!!

| It was freezing here tonight! Chloe uses the potty pads so no worries , but Sydney still goes outside. She goes out quick does her business and gets right back in. Usually she sniffs around and kind of nonchalantly does her business , but tonight It was pee/poo and run. I never seen her move so quick ( unless she was trying to catch a rabbit !)
