| Poor Chewie Chewie's had a horrible two nights here ... Last night he was scolded for biting Mommy's hand when he decided he didn't like the new treats she bought for him (this was a night of firsts - first time he nipped at me, and the first time that *I* was the scolder - John usually does the scolding) So, none of this would have been bad, if not for the fact that it became apparent that in his past life he was definately abused. No sooner did I scold him did he become another dog (that we had not seen in the 2 months that we have had him) cowering in the corner, staying as low to the ground as possible and shaking. No amount of cuddling and kisses could turn him back to normal for the next few hours. We figured that he would be alright, we kissed him and gave him treats to show that we loved him. Went for a few nice long walks, thought that everything was AOK. Woke up today, he was a little wierd before I went to work. Figured that he was just groggy from all of his upset last night. Came home, everything was fine. Had company for dinner, he was FANTASTIC - loved all of the belly rubs and love that he was getting. Fell asleep on my sister-in-law's lap. I figured he was PERFECTO. After they left he butt scooted on the carpet for the first time since we've had him. I scooped him up and checked the bum for any suspicious objects or signs of bad things... He was fine. Set him on the ground to play with "Rubber Chicken" and let him get out of my sight. Next thing I know I hear a BIG YELP, I run over to him and he's cowering on the floor. I figure, he's not cowering because he's scared, he's SICK. I rush him down the staris and out the door for a 1:45 AM walk. We walk the block, he marks every tree and bush, has some difficulty making the smallest poop I've ever scooped, and tells me that he's ready to come inside (when we go by the entrance to the building he makes the turn for me when he's ready - it's adorable). I'm RELIEVED. We can cuddle up and goto bed. Get through the door and I give him one of his favorites (Pupperoni) which we only use for fantastic behaviour - and I felt that having a traumatic pooper would qualify for such an occassion. No sooner do I sit down to the computer to look at email does he puke a pile on the floor by my foot. I'm not concerned that he's going into some crazy health shock condition or something of the sort. I'm sure that it was something that he had eaten earlier. (Yeah, I failed to mention that we had tried some other "new" treats this evening with him) SO... My guess is that the Pork-Rind-Esqu Bacon Flavored treats are what brought him over the edge. But what a past few days. Poor little Chewie, he was so frightened that he was in for a beating last night it broke my heart. I hope that he can understand that those things won't ever happen to him here. He's always been such a little lovebug with us... We had no idea that he could get so scared... Anyhow, I know that a few of you were interested to find out how things were going with Chewie. And I'll admit that it's hard (and strange) not to know much about his past, and to slowly realize that his past was not nearly as idyllic as we would have liked it to be. Thank goodness he is with us now. I hope that this was the right place to post this. It's a combination health (puke) issue and rescued Yorkie issue. I was just so sad when he got sick on the carpet earlier, he was cowering like he had done something bad. It was ridiculous, I was doing Nature's Miracle Paper Towel Tango on the floor leaning from side to side to give him kisses while I cleaned. He's all curled up on my lap right now, and I'm thinking that it's high time that we all curl up in bed and get some sleep. Once again, I'm sorry if I've miscategorized my post, I'm generally a silent member here, looking at all of the posts, but rarely feel that I have much to say... I hope to become a bit more active as a poster, but we're still getting our feet wet with Chewie! Thanks for reading! -Christina and Chewie the Wonder Dog |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor little guy - I hope he wasn't abused....sometimes if they eat something that doesn't agree with them...they become constipated and it CAN make them cry - I know when my girls have trouble they get very upset and embarrassed - I try to make jokes to them and help them 'go' with a butt bath - sometimes warm water on their little hineys helps them poop and they feel soooooooooo much better and are smiling and happy again. I hope this was what was wrong with him - but I'd keep an eye on him and make sure he's ok... Nice to have you posting ! |

| He's happy as a clam Today he's fully recovered and happy as a clam. Good thing - since I wasn't home to be with him tonight (had dinner plans). However, he's had an entire day to nap and become refreshed. Myself, I'm BEAT! No more 3 hours of sleep and a full day ahead of me! I really think it was the wierd treat we gave him. And I wonder - what were we thinking?!? So, fear not, he's fine. I'm just overprotective and new at this! -Christina |

| Poor little guy!!!!! I am glad he is feeling better, but wondering about his past life is awful. Did you rescue him, I'm not sure that I know the story.
