Senior Yorkie Talker | it isthe weekend and my kati is having bloody and mucous diarrhea ,l i took her to the vet last week for the same thing and he put her on metronidazole for this he also put her on amoxi...she has a very sensitive stomach it cleared for almost a week up but an hour ago she was back with bloody diarrhea.I gave her more of the metronidazole and amoxi. She seems to be uncomfortable and tired ..please any suggestions Of course it is the weekend..Should i take up her water? i did pick up her food ..she refused to eat this morning...Also the vet said her pancreas seams to be sore when he exaimed her.. She is 14 yr. old..any input would be helpful..would a crumb or two that fell on the floor from dinner last night have brought this back on? She was not given anything except boiled chicken and peas yesterday..i am very careful with her diet... |

| I don't think I would give metro and amoxi at the same time. That can be really hard on the tummy. Metro is pretty strong. Did they put her on metro because of Cocci or giardia? Did you finish the RX? Because of the diarrhea I would make sure she drinks and keep the water down. I guess if she not is skinny or weak I would withhold food for 24 hrs, or just give rice and boiled hamburger in very small meals , many times a day. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | thank you for responding to Kati and me the vet didn't give me any real diagnosis on the diarrhea other than he thinks she has a very sensative stomach..Also thanks for letting me know how strong the metro is and that it really is not a goog idea to give the metro and amxi at the same time..why don't the vet's tell you these things? Thanks again for your help...Karen and Kati |

| I would start her on liquid pepto, one cc per pound. Dose her every hour for three hours, then see how she is. Do not let her eat anything today and tomorrow am. You can gice her some nutrical tonight if you're worried. If she's not better in the am I would get her to an er. Good luck.

| Glad to hear your Kati is doing better I like when people update their original thread rather than start a new one - it's easier for me to keep track of.
