Therapy Dog Donating Member | Izzy in hospital with pancreatitis I am so sick right now I'm about to throw up...I just got back from our vets where I had to leave my baby Izzy. She was diagnosed today with pancreatitis..OMG. I can't believe it. Izzy will be 2 on 12/29 and she is 3#. I have never had a problem with her health until this week. First off she is on The Honest Kitchen with plain, non-fat yogurt in the AM. She gets very few treats (she never was a treat eater) but when she does I give her the Ziwi Peaks. That's it. Well Monday she didn't want her yogurt but ate dinner. She was acting fine - no throwing up, nothing. Tues/Wed she still would not touch breakfast but eat dinner..again no symptoms. I started to get worried yesterday as she would not eat a thing except a few hand-fed spoonful of THK. But she was still running around but started to get soft stools. This morning she threw up but it was THK in a small chunk (sorry to be so graphic)...continued to have soft stools but not running. I knew something was wrong since she would NOT play with the cats this morning and only wanted to lay around. I did not go to work today but took her to our vet thinking I would get some medication and be home. I almost fell on the floor when they took her temp - it was 104 and then they did complete blood work then. My vet told me they have to admit her and give her IV to calm her pancreas. I'm in tears as I type this as who would have thought this. I have no clue what these numbers mean but here is what all was high: LIPA WBC MONO RBC MCH Low was: Phos We can go visit her tonight and tomorrow as they don't know how long they have to keep her - could be one night could be all weekend. I miss her already and crying my eyes out. I know the power of YT prayers as I've seen miracles happen. Please pray for my baby that she gets through this and we can work with this pancreatitis.

| I'm so sorry. LIPA is lipase. Some vets take lipase as a marker for pancreatitis and it is but in inconclusive. I'm not really sure that they can diagnose her on those numbers alone. I would want a Spec cPL done if it were Ellie. While it is good to err on the side of caution and treat as pancreatitis, there is a chance that it is something different. If that is what it is, it sounds like a mild case.

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Hi Crystal thank you so much...I asked my vet about that just now calling her. She is going to do that test but it takes about 3 days to get results in but they highly think that since her LIPA is so high that it's a fairly concrete diagnosis and they are treating Izzy for that - they don't want to wait the 3 days to get the results of the test but I had them do it anyway right now. I just want to be sure.

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Thanks guys I need my YT peeps right now..I'm a tear bucket right now. I'm also going to ask the vet about a TLI blood panel and see what she says. She is supposed to call me back. My poor baby's LIPA was over 5,000 and she didn't show signs at all until yesterday. Thank goodness my gut told me to take her today.
