| A serious problem ( this is not a joke) I have a 1 year old male yorkie whom I have ad spayed 2 months ago by a local vet. This is somewhat strange but very true and if any other owner has any knowledge of this occurence please write me since no one seems to be able to help us. ever since the surgury and his return home we noticed that the incision on his belly was at least 5 inches long cutting across the length of his penis. The doctor had explained that arnie only had one testicle and he had to go up inside to locate and remove the other one. We knew he had only one testicle and was assured that this was not an uncommon situation and he would take care of it. We brought him home and he recouped somewhat faster than I had anticipated but what we noticed is that he always has an erection which never goes away. We had brought him back to the vet and he just makes lite of it and says give me some of what he is taking. Well funny it is not He seems not to be in any pain or discomfort and he is not humping his toys as before the operation but it is embarrassing when people go to pick him up or he rolls on his back to play. I would welcome any input from anyone whos yorkie has a similar problem. I have not taken him to another vet as of yet because he is physically fine and has lots of energy. I fear that the doctor who spayed arnie cut something he should not of. I hope I am wrong and with someones help here might give us the answers. |

| I would take him to another vet. I dislike it when vets make light of something you are very concerned with, not to mention its kind of ODD what he said to you when you mentioned it.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | OMG..My 11 week old Peekapoo, and when I purchased him the breeder had told me he has an undescended testicle and he has to be neutered,of coarse. I hope this isn't going to be a problem. I have all males, but this is my first with this issue. He goes next week for his first visit wit our vet,I 'll ask about it. I agree with the others, that this is not a funny issue and should be taken seriously. I'm glad to hear he does'nt have any pain. Good Luck. Keep us posted and I 'll ask my vet on Wednesday, what this may mean for Harley.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would go to another vet. Do you mean, when you say "erect", is his manhood outside of its sheath *all* the time? Bc this would be very dangerous. Also, a near-constant erect penis is dangerous for blood flow. I'd get him to someone else asap - this should not be happening. So sorry your going through this!

| When they do this surgery everything should look normal from the outside. He might have stitched the skin around the penis to tight so now it pulls back and leaves him "exposed". I'd have him double checked with another vet to make sure that he isn't in any pain. He shouldn't be humping more because of the neutering.

| I dont really have experience with this but when i took Rocky to get nuetered he also had a testicle that hadnt descended either. When they nuetered him they had to go up inside him and thankfully they found and was able to take it out. I opted for laser surgery which was $50 more and it healed perfectly. Rocky's inscicion was not more than 2 inches long though. 5" inches sounds pretty big of a inscision. I agree with everyone else and i think it's best to take him to another vet for a second opinion.
