| Help with Rash? Hi guys. My little Beans has what looks to be hives on his tummy. I've had Yorkies the past 11 yrs. and have never had any of them develop hives/rash. Anyone have any experience with this and what I can do for it. I did call the vet and he is booked and can't get me in until Saturday. I'm a bit annoyed. I take five to them and they never have to wait for their money and they are always up to date on everything. Ya think he could squeeze me in somewhere before Saturday. They are little bumps that look like hives - he has about five or six just from what I see on his tummy. Thanks. Elaine |

| Poor little guy! I don't have any idea about what the bumps could be, just wanted to bump this back up so hopefully someone else can provide some help.

Yorkie Yakker | hives My puppy had what I believe were hives too earlier this week. I think it was an allergic reaction to something, I haven't figured out what but I read that it could be to food, insect bites or medication. I doubt its the food because he eats it every day and is fine. I had a problem getting in at the vet too so I put some lanacane (human itch cream) on the bumps that were on his belly after giving him a bath and they went away within the hour. They were causing him to scratch, so I felt like I had to do something for him, but they haven't come back since. He had bumps all over though, while I was bathing him I could see that he had them under his fur, but they all went away after putting the lanacane just on his belly where theres no fur. Let me know what you find out about your yorkies "hives" as I'm no doctor and could be totally wrong about them. |

| if it were me i would go in and sit there until they can squeeze you in or go to another vet as hives are not good as they can swell up my dd has horrible allergies and she had hives once as she licked dh cologne on neck and she had welts with an hour later. HIves are from an immediate contact to something. The hives took a few days to clear and we used benedryl and temaril p to kill the cycle. I believe it is 1mg of benedryl per 1lb of dog and i used the 25mg tablet and split it and i have temaril p due to her allergies so did combo of both per the dermatologist. It is an easy fix but you need to get doseage from vet and i was concerned about throat swelling when i was at work so i called emergency vet and dermatologist we see -- you can google it as it is canine hives |
