| Puzzled The night before last Bentley woke us up wheezing. we clicked the light on to see what the matter was and he threw up something that appeared to be black and was covered in stomach acid. Ok I assumed he had eaten his poop and it upset his stomach. Then tonight almost the same sceniero. Bentley woke us up wheesing. I picked him up and he upchucked again... only this time a smaller amount. Kelly and I hadn't seen him ingest anything that would be this color except his dog food. Kelly just realized that he had helped himself to her glass of milk both incedents. I have been known to give him milk on occasion, but probably not the amount that he helped himself to. do you think this could be the cause of his recent midnight sickness? anyhelp would be greatly appreciated. -Brett

| A puzzle indeed. I hope he gets better son. I took hefner to the vet today fearing a blockage of some sort cuz he was having trouble pooping but they said he probably just got into something that upset his stomach. |

| Poor Bentley! I read somewhere that milk doesn't agree with their little systems. Don't remember where I read it or if there was any information to validate it. I would either take him to the vet or call the vet to see if he should be brought in. Hope he is feeling better soon!

| Usually milk will give them the runs. Is he acting normal during the day and eating and drinking the normal amount? Is he wheezing or more like the stomach heaving to throw up? If he is wheezing, I'd definetly take him to the vet. This is gross, but I'd also take that dark thing that he is throwing up. They will be able to tell you what it is and it will help them determine what his problem is. Please let us know and I hope he is all better soon. |

| It was more of a heaving so that he could throw up. He is acting normal now. the weird thing was that after he threw up he was rollin around on the bed and wanting some attention. I don't know if it was a piece of dog food or not. With Bentley you can never tell. I think we will lay off of the milk for a while. Right now he is in bed with Kelly trying to eat her fingers.(normal for bentley).

| Well I just talked to our vet. And I think he figured out the problem. Bentley primarely eats in the morning. This causes his stomach to digest all the food throughout the day and around midnight his system has not only digested all his food, but built up a good amount of stomach acid. This causes his system to become very upset and get rid of the excess stomach acid. The vet's solution.....Divide Bentley's meals into 3 servings. or at least feed him some food later at night. so the acid breaks down the food rather than builds up in his stomach. Thought I would share this with everyone so that you won't encounter the same problem. -Brett

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I hope your baby is ok !! Wheezing would scare me - black bile would also scare me ...If it happens more - maybe you could get it tested - scoop some up and take it in - I hope the wheezing was just caused by him being upset but I'd really keep an eye on him .... good luck and I hope you saw the last of that - they're just so small and we hate to see them sick....I really hope it's just his food and what you're going to try works and he feels better.....it could have been the milk too...they don't digest it well. |

| I think that makes sense and it has happened to TJ too! So now, I do give them some dry food before they go to sleep. They have to poop at 4 am, but I'd rather that than witness that dry heave and throw up, I had never been so scared after seeing that! |
