| Update on Uma First off. Uma has started to get around a little now. She can stand on her own albeit a little wobbly, and can do her business without me holding her up! She has even begun to do the wee-wee shuffle again! She is becoming very vocal and quite demanding. We went to see her Vet. today and he said she is coming along nicely. Continue the Antibiotics, Phen. and the prednisone, and keep her limited to her playpen or crate. He also started her on physical therapy at home. I'm to put her in a tub of baby warm water untill her toes just clear the bottom for 15 min. Well, I think I need to wear a rain coat next time! I thought she would just slowly tippy-toe around....oh no! She took off swimming! Much splashing was involved and I ended up as wet as her! Does anyone know if they are supposed to swim that vigorously,or did I do something wrong? She is tired but otherwise seems alright.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh, thank you for updating!! I am so happy to read this about little Uma ! Good news. My guys both swim, but it's in either our pool or up at the lake - so it's probably harder to notice the splashing since we're outside. I do think Marcerella02 has done water therapy with her Layla - so maybe she'll chime in...or you could PM her.

| I'm so happy to hear such a wonderful report on UMA!!!! I can't help you out with the swimming thing, but it sounds encouraging Did she seem to enjoy it? I commend you for such excellent care given to Uma during this time. I hope her improvment continues! Go Uma! All the best, Tammy, Abby and Daisy

| The Vet. said to fill Just untill her feet barely left the bottom. If she stood still she could touch bottom, as soon as she moved she swam. I had to stop her every 2 min. or so she looked distressed. Then I would let go and as soon as she moved she was swimming again. I have to add that water has never been her favorite element. Once she was dry she seemed o-k just tired. Oh! Forgot to add in the update... she can now right her feet if turned under, She's just a little slow at it. Slower on one side than the other, but she is making progress!
