| Well... I've tried both.. The tomato juice never helped much for me. And the peroxide mix.. did help with the smell.. BUT it took the color out of my cat's fur. He's gray and he had orange spots for quite awhile. Like he tried SUN IN- Might check the vet I know they have things there.

| This is the recipe I've kept on file. Fortunately, I've never needed to use it. However, it sounds like you've already tried this. Perhaps the "fresh" peroxide is the key? Skunk juice remover: > 1 quart FRESH 3% hydrogen peroxide > 1/4 cup baking soda > 1 teaspoon liquid soap (Dawn is best) Good luck! |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Spring floral fresh....LOL I wonder if it's the vinegar because vinegar is a neutralizer. Maybe regular vinegar would work. Btw, then they'd smell like easter eggs...I always think of easter eggs when I smell vinegar

My mentor told me about this recently......she had been to Baton Rouge and brought back some shrimp in a ice box and didn't realize that the plug wasn't on and the ice melted onto her van carpet.......the stench was so horrible she could smell it in the house....someone had told her about it. She sprayed it on the carpet once and it killed the odor......I've since begun using it.

| No, not really, when I groom, I use a 1 part vinegar to 10 parts water as a rinse to make sure I get all the shampoo out. Never leaves a smell.

| Unfortunately, Kissy has been skunked 3x and Angel 1x. I tried everything including the Messingil douche liquid. I poured it on straight and it got most of the smell out.. The problem was that you can't get anything good on their heads and the douche will burn their eyes. I wiped it on every where i could but the head and face is where the smell is. I ended up shaving their heads to get the smell off. It took about a year for their hair to grow back. Every time they would get wet, here would come the skunk smell again!! It was horrible!! Nothing seemed to work. I also bought this stuff called Odor Destroyer from Davis Manufacturing Veterinary Products 800-292-2424 - Odor Destroyer™ Concentrate, 32 oz. which claims that it will get rid of skunk odor. It works pretty good but the skunk smell continued to come out every time they were wet until that hair was cut off. I feel for you and your furbaby!! Once that yellow skunk junk gets in their hair, it will penitrate every hair folicle it touches.. I hope you can find something that will work for your baby...good luck!! |

| Just the other day I saw someone post about this and now I can't remember where I saw it. I think it might have been Breezeaway. I'm going to look now and see if I can find it. I believe the mixture was baking soda and something else.

| Administering a drop of mineral oil or cod liver oil in each eye prevents irritation or burning shampoo or any rinse may cause.....
