Layla never took "people" cough meds. and if you wanted to do this i'd ask your vet. I found that a warm mist humidifier next to her crate at night really helped a lot. keep in mind the coughing can continue for over a month after the antibiotics.

| Please, don't give your baby human meds for kennel cough. Do as Marci suggested, use a humidifier. It's like a human cold and no cure, only things to make it feel better till it runs it's course. Medications of any kind can actually suppress the immune system and set them up for more problems, so only give medication under a Vets. supervision.

Best to take your dog to the vet. My little one got kennel cough as a puppy and the vet prescribed canine cough medicine and he was well within a week or less.

Thanks ! He is on day 11 of the cough and the vet told us he would be better in 10 days. My husband has taken him twice to the vet due to me worrying it could be something else... but he never seemed to ask all the questions i had. Unfortunately i could not take off work to take him. It is such a pitiful cough but he seems to still be playful and his normal self. He is so over due for a bath-- but i worry it may not be good for him to get damp. Any input on a bath?

Kennel Cough It took my baby about a month to get over the kennel cough she developed when I brought her home. You will notice that the coughing will start to lighten up. Her meds were only a 10 day course and then we just had to wait it out. Bathing her did not affect the kennel cough at all.
