| Upset stomach The night before last Diezel had me up all night every half our in what appeared to be throwing up. He was not throwing up food it looked like when out little babies release the bile acid. Only it was clear it was not yellow which I have been told before is the actual bile acid. I skipped dinner and just made him drink water. He also attempted to go to the bathroom 3 times and nothing. Finally he went and it looked normal not to hard or soft. I still did not feed and went to work. I came home last night he had diarreah several times and then was fine for the rest of the evening. Upon wakening this morning there were 2 spots where it was runny again. Also, on my bed there was something that looked like avacado. I cannot tell which end it came out of. It had no oder at all. I have not yet fed him this morning but am going to take a walk and get some brown rice. He is not playful at all but his ears are still up so he is not looking like he feels very sick, but def not feeling good. Any ideas or am a fool for not taking him to the vet immediately.. from years of running to the vet when it was something similar only resulted in being told he just has an upset stomach. But I will feel terrible if it is something worse. Any help would be great thanks in advance Faith and Diezel |

| He has not thrown anything up since about 24 hours ago. I gave him plain boiled white chicken last night and nothing since then. He did drink water. Do you still suggest I get to vet even if has only been diarreah? |

| so he is drinking and eating? How are his gums? and his energy level. If the food has stayed down then i'd hold off and see how he does.. but if it comes out as diarrhea or comes back up.. he needs to go in |

| The only advice I can give is to go to the vet because I don't know how normal GI upset is for him or how much he can take... Have you taken his temperature? Are his gums pink? He is still having problems this morning. Waiting over 24 hours with stomach upset and not having any idea why it is going on may not be a good thing to do. Did he get any new food or treats lately? He isn't eating Nutro, is he? Have you called the vet to see what they think?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would assume that "avocado" looking thing was vomited since it didn't have odor - so I *do* think he threw-up last night (aka, within the last 24 hours). Maybe that "thing" was what his body was fighting this whole time, it's hard to say. I agree with Marci, I think you're on the border of high risk here with not bringing him in. Like Marci asked - gums? Is he drinking? Energy? I would feed *just* some rice, or better yet, some mashed potatoes - and see how he does for an hour or 2; if he cannot hold this down - you really DO need to get this baby in to the vet.

| Thanks everyone for ur input and advice... After Marcerella02 reply I went straight to the vet and thank god. I did not notice blood in his stool which there was. He has Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. They took blood to test and gave him a few injections. I have to feed him baby food and give him meds 2 times a day. However, if he throws up again and does not keep the medicine or food down I have have him hospitalized I just have to watch him closely tonight and in the morning. She said it was fine for me to come to work today because he will be fine and filled with plenty of fluids that she gave him. But I put the puppy pen back up in trhe living room with a wee wee pad water and bed. This way had he gotten sick while I'm away I will see the spot on the carpet. I feared leaving him in kitchen since when he does throw up he is afraid he did something wrong and tries to eat it. On the lighter note she said it was a good sign that he does not throw up after drinking waterM he is not lethargic, even tho he seems sleepy he will still follow me his ears are up and tail is wagging. His tempature was normal heart beat fine and did not seem to have any pain in his tummy which also felt fine. So now its just the waiting game which is probably the hardest part of it all. But thank u again for your replies. It helped since you all know the not knowing what to do or what's going on is a kiler! |
