| Tampons (need to be added to hazardous items) So last night my dog did something out of his charactistics, He went potty in the house(both) right after each other and I noticed his poop was borderlining dirrhea. Well i thought it was because of the rawhides I had ben giving him so I went to bed and early in the morning I heard him hacking and thought it was just the hunger sickness(which I why i give him a snack before bed and this has stopped his throwing up in the morning) and so I fed him alittle and went back to sleep. Then at noon when he woke me up whining I was getting ready to take him outside when i smelled it. I thought he had went potty in his crate(which he only does when I leave him home alone, today I WAS going to buy him a smaller crate) Well so i put him in the tub and was rinsing off his paws and was going to take him out when he threw up and this wod of something came out. then i looked in his crate and realized he had gotten sick and then saw what it was.. he had gotten into the bathroom trash a few days ago and actually ate tampons! I wasn't sure if he had ate them or not I thought he dragged them out and hid them(the house was a bit messy due to husband leaving for deployment) and so I've been searching for them!! I took him to the emergency vet(which isn't connected to my petsmart very unfortunately) and he had to get x rays but while waiting teddy just kept throwing up in the separate office room(before we went in there he was so active and playful and wanting peoples attention) and then when we were waiting for the doctor he was just getting sick all over the place and it was like snot and then because whitish. The doctor took the xrays and said there wasn't any big blockage but one spot was bugging him and he wasn't sure what it was and said he could do a test (which woudl cost over 300 dollars alone) or surgery which would be over 250 or he could pump him full of pinicillin, fluids and a throwing up represser and see how he does. I decided on that since my bill was already nearing 200 and since it was a small matter in the xrays. He's on a bland diet but I'm waiting an hour to see how he does with holding water down before I try to feed him anything, so far so good. it just figures the ONE time I forget to close the bathroom door. BTW he didn't eat the applicators or wrappers.. only the tampons themselves and I thought there was no way he could of ate them and no way he'd even want to. I was wrong! Be careful with my lady products!!

| Oh yes, we've had issues with tampons before. Luckily Tatum never picks foreign objects up off the floor anymore but when she was a puppy, she got into the bathroom trash can and drug some used tampons out. It looked like she had killed a few mice or something when I got home. NASTY! And one time our toy poodle ate a folded up panty liner that was wrapped in tissue paper. I didn't even know it until he threw it up. Talk about a nasty surprise! I hope your baby can get the problem solved naturally and you don't have to go for surgery!

| Murphy likes to get into the trash but I put them in the cupboard so he can't. But I'm a little confused. If I'm reading this right he is getting used tampons??? I flush mine and have never had an issue. I only throw the appllicater and wrapper away.

| Oh yes, that would be the simple answer (to flush them) but you can't do that when you live in the country and have a septic system. BIG no-no for septic systems. I was talking about used ones. Not sure about the original poster though but I'm assuming she was too since she said they came out of the trash.

I'm a mix between so mad i almost don't want him anymore to so worried and I hope he's ok and doesn't die(and not wanting to give him away). I know it sounds bad but if you could experience the anxiety problems I get from him everytime I leave even for 10 minutes you'd be about ready to just shave off all your hair and beat cars with umbrellas too. Especially since my husband is deployed it's just me. On another note I haven't seen how he potties yet he won't go so I don't know if he's fully recovered but he hasn't thrown up!!! SO i'm just giving him more of a bland diet and I know when I leave he'll go potty(unfortunately)

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | Don't give up on him (with the separation anxiety) just yet!!! He's still a puppy since he's not even 1 yet. I had a lot of separation anxiety problems with mine when she was very young (nothing like the trash thing though!). I'll PM you about some separation anxiety "remedies" you can try and hopefully they will work!! |

| You poor thing! I am sending a big hug your way because I think you could probably use one right now. I just came across your other post so I looked up this one to see what was going on. Hope Teddy feels better soon and starts behaving himself!
