| Mavies Really Sick I am kinda in freak out mode right now. Maverick has been sick for the past 3 days now and I don't know what to do for him. On Labor Day we went to my brothers for a Family BBQ and took the dogs with us. They had a good time playing with the kids and other dogs there, but I think my nephew fed Mavie too many treats. Also a plate of Hamburgers fell over he got a hold of one and apparently ate the entire thing, mind you he is only like 2.5lbs. Keely ate a bit too much as well, but I don't think quite as much but she is bigger than he is too. She was not feeling so hot, but that was only for like a day and shes back to her old self again. Since then he has been very sluggish and just sleeps in his bed and rarely gets out, only to go potty on his pad and when he does it is really rank diarrhea that smells like spoiled milk and garbage. Plus he has thrown up at least a dozen times now. He hasn't eaten or drank anything in almost 3 days which is my main concern. Rachael and I have given him some Pepto to calm his stomach, but that doesn't seem to work and we tried giving him some Pumpkin because Brenny said that is good for calming their stomachs but he didn't want anything to do with it. Last night he showed signs of improvement and was in bed with us and was playing around with Keely. I thought everything would be fine and the worst of it was over, but then when we woke up this morning he was all sluggish again, pooped some more nasty diarrhea and threw up 4 more times. Not much, but small spots mainly because there is nothing left in the poor little guy to get out. I have a plunger type thing that we used to give him the Pepto in that I filled with water and shot down his throat so he is at least having some form of liquids in him. What should I do? Should I hold off and see how he progresses today or take him to the vet? Thanks in advance for the advice.

| He needs to go to the Vet, right away! His sugar is probably low by now, along with whatever else is going on. Being that small, it is dangerous to let it go on a minute longer!!!

| I agree with the other posters - you need to get your baby to the vet ASAP. These tummy upsets can get very serious very quickly. My two boys have both experienced problems like that and they are 6#. At only 2# your baby can go downhill very quickly and you could lose him

| Yay, Id say if he has not stopped vomitting at this point you should take him to the vet. A couple months ago both my boys had a bout of something (personally I think they ate duck poop) and it was not pretty. It was nothing serious though and they only needed antibiotics for 10 days. Just something to help move along whatever is bothering him. You really don't want your poor baby to get dehydrated. Take care and keep us updated.

| Please take him to the vet ASAP. He may have pancreatitis which can be fatal if not treated. Pancreatitis (Inflammation) in Dogs At the very least he is extremely dehydrated if this has been going on for three days. Please keep us updated. |

| I agree. It sounds like pancreatitis from the burger and this is an emergency. Improving today or not doesn't make a difference. This could be extremely serious. I don't even think you should wait for an appointment with a dog this small. Hopefully it is something not so bad though.

| I took him to the vet and let's just say I will not be going to that place again even though they were helpful when it came to costs. We recently moved so we haven't found a vet in our area just yet. Anyways she tried to tell me that he is malnutrition and extremely underweight. First off and others can vouch if need be, he is a very small Yorkie in body size. He weighs 3.5lbs. and this crack job says he should be at least 7lbs. Sure he could gain a pound if he wanted, but to say he should be almost triple the weight he is now is insane. His little body wouldn't be able to support the that. She looked him over and said she didn't feel it was anything serious, just an upset stomach from eating too much and gave me some medicine to calm his stomach and stop the vomiting. They also gave him a shot of this stuff that is supposed to rehydrate him and told me to wait a few hours for everything to kick in and feed him a little bit of white rice and boiled chicken. If he vomits any more during the night that there could be something else wrong with him. Like I said, I am grateful they helped me out with the costs because I didn't have the full amount of the bill, but other than that I won't be going back there ever again. It's not just her comment trying to make me feel like a bad parent, but her attitude in general was very catty and unprofessional. Right now he is lying in bed with me and seems to be doing better. He isn't moaning anymore like he was. I am gonna feed him in a bit after he rests.
