Avery's symptoms don't really sound like hypothyroidism, do they? Vomiting, fever, none of those are associated with thyroid problems, The three classic signs are lethargy, hair loss and weight gain.
Avie naps throughout the day.. but is FULL of love and has plenty of energy when awake! she breathes kinda heavy sometimes..? i don't know if that has anything to do with it She also is a BIG licker.. she is ALWAYS giving kisses!! not sure if that is related to something or not?! She has NOT shown any signs of her coat thinning.. she has a TON of hair! and she doesn't seem to have gained any weight..? is the weight gain major?..cuz i have NOT noticed her weight increase!!

the other symptoms have subsided.. no more vomiting or runny stools! so i really dont know!

No T4 thyroid panel, yet! ... i wanted to get some more info. on what i should have done, when i go in! he should know to do this, right? if not.. should i request it? he just took blood, sent it out to the lab.. & it came back with low thyroid levels!

Avie may have a couple of different things going on at the same time. Lady's low thyroid was discovered when she was battling a UTI. She also had the classic symptoms, though.

You'll know soon enough. The test is pretty definitive.

Default Update:

We saw the vet today..
He put Avery on Thyroxine for her hypothyroidism.. (1/2 a 0.1mg tablet, 2x's daily!)
(i got a copy of the results from the blood work done.. not that i really know how to read them?!?)

everything else seemed well.. no more fever or anything like that!

he did check out her LP(which we knew she had) he said she is grade 2 in both legs(the left one, he said is almost grade 3!!) we are ordering cosequin and hope this helps her!!!! ..she was on glycoflex before! she is most likely going to need surgery, though!

thank you, so much.. for all the prayers & well wishes everyone!!

Thanks for the update. I'm glad it was only a thyroid imbalance. She'll be back to her old self in no time!

Yes, I have Lady on Cosequin. This is the one I get:

Cosequin Regular Strength (90 capsules)

I just can't rave about Cosequin enough. I had Lady on Glycoflex for years, but her arthritis was so bad she had to go on steroids for a couple of years. I had to wean her off them because she got steroid induced Cushings. My vet prescribed Tramadol daily for pain, but I also switched to Cosequin at the same time. After a few months I was able to get her off the Tramadol, too.

I give Lady the full capsule every day. She weighs about 7.5 pounds.
