Sad Update:

The vet's office called today and i talked with the vet.. her blood test results were in! (i was so scared because i didn't know why he needed to speak with me unless something showed up on the test!! )

anyway.. he thinks Avie has an underactive thyroid!!! he said he wants to check her again (im wanting to know what other tests i should have done, i want to get her retested.. just to make sure the levels weren't low due to the fact she was sick or if she was stressed from feeling sick/not eating anything, etc. ? ) he said she would just have to be put on medication/pills to regulate it!

my poor baby!! does anyone have any info on this or experience with their baby and thyroid issues??

also.. the vet put her on antibiotics-(i am going to call him back to ask) BUT he put her on baytril.. (which i was kinda ify about, after reading the mixed reviews on here!?) should i not give this to her anymore.. since it doesn't look like she had an infection? i have only given her half the dose for one day, so far..

THANK YOU!! please keep my baby girl in your thoughts and prayers!!!!!

Hugs from zoeybear and Baby Chloe. I hope her results were just off cause she was feeling sick. Avery is just the cutest thing. I hate to hear she is feeling low.

No but I'm glad it's treatable.
My daughter's parakeet had an underactive thyroid. I thought the vet
was nut's when he told us.
The bird lived for 10yrs on meds. Long time for a parakeet I think.
I'm sure all will be just fine.

Question A Couple Questions.......

We are feeding NV canned & kibble at the moment.. we were planning on starting them on the RAW medallions within the next week or so..
I have read that certain veggies aren't ideal for thyroid problems .. ? BROCOLLI was one of the major ones.. and i KNOW this is included in the NV foods! Does anyone know anything about this? OR anything to do with the feeding for thyroid problems?

Also.. she doesn't seem to have really any of the symptoms for an underactive thyroid? i know they aren't ALWAYS present.. but just makes me think?

What would you recommend i have done with the vet? another blood test? (a certain kind?) any specific questions i should ask? any do's or dont's?

* I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ANY INFO. FROM PEOPLE WHO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS.. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!! *

Thanks Brooke!! Sunday was a very crazy day.. i was worried sick-so sad for my baby girl!!!!
(they took some xrays of her head.. NO concussion(swelling), as of then-NO fracture, etc. soo that was good news! she had a fever, so he took some blood(had it sent out) and also put her on some antibiotics(since she had a temp) she started to act a little better late sunday evening.. but still was NOT back to normal! yesterday, she was better than the day before.. but could still see she wasn't completely herself..)
i talked with the vet today (posted an update on this thread..) but the vet seems to think she may have an underactive thyroid? if this is the case, it is manageable.. Thank God!! BUT.. i just hate to hear anything could be wrong!! i'm still very worried and am VERY anxious.. i HATE feeling like this!! PLEASE keep sayin' those prayers for her, i appreciate it so much!! thanks for thinkin of us & the girlies send hugs right back to ya, chick!
