| Healthy Pup Throwing Up 2 Day in a Row Help guys - I need advice. For the last 2 nights in a row, Darwin has thrown up twice. We go to bed, and he tucks in under the covers, then a couple hours later, he jumps off the bed and throws up on the carpet. The 1st night, it was bits of his treat that came up, so I thought - well maybe I just went overboard with the tricks and fed too many treats. So I cleaned it up, and then I don't know how much later, he threw up again while I was asleep. The next morning, he didn't touch his food, drank a bit of water, and was not interested in his potty treats. However, but mid afternoon, everything was back to normal...he ate his dinner and was playful. Then last night - same thing, we go to bed, an hour later, jumps off the bed, threw up on the floor - some of his dinner. So I put him in his crate, and this morning, found bile on his bedding, so he must have thrown up a 2nd time. Is this enough for a vet visit? He acts really healthy otherwise, and is even nibbling at his morning kibble. What causes them to throw up like this? I did feed him peach and chicken the past 2 days - and I applied frontline plus 2 days ago...could that have caused it? Any rememdies to settle an upset tummy? We've been to the vet variou times in the past few weeks, I hope he doesn't have to go again...he shakes uncontrollably when we go. |

| I'm by no means an expert and I'm sure someone will come along with better answers than me, but I would think the frontline could have caused it. It is definitely worth at least a call to the vet to see what they say. I would be concerned that he could at the very least become dehydrated. How old is he? How much does he weigh. The littler ones are more at risk. I would want to know what's causing this and nip it in the bud ASAP. I wish you all the best and I hope it's something really simple. Tammy

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | If you fed peaches and chicken the last 2 days - and that coincides with throwing up the last 2 days - then I think it's from that. What are you feeding for kibble and how old is he? How are his poos? How was the chicken cooked - were there spices and marinade? You can give Pepto Bismol - 1/2 tsp to settle his little tummy.

| He's almost 7 months, and weights 5.5 lbs. He's drinking water fine, peeing and pooping as normal...so I don't think it's a blockage. I fed quite a bit of peach as a treat, and the chicken was from my chicken piccatta from cpk...so probably not good for him. Would over feeding treats cause puke? I called the vet this morning and they said to do 1/2 rice 1/2 kibble tonight, so that's what we're trying. Vet also said it's probably not the frontline that's making him throw up. He eats wellness for puppies, and has been on it for about 2 months without any issues. Thanks for your input guys. |

| Ok - so the rice and kibble worked well for 2 days, and then we went off of it, and last night, he threw up again...I am so confused. It's always late at night, last night at 2:30 am, only throws up once, then he's fine and goes back to sleep. Again undigested food last night...so I'm going back to 1/2 rice today...any suggestions? |

| I would consider changing his diet for a different food, although wellness is good food it may not be the food for him... stay AWAY from treats for now and if you must, cook plain chicken breast, in water, well cooked, chop into "pea size" pieces and save it on zip lock bags on the fridge. These are the best treats i found. My problem with wellness is the lack of a specific food for tiny breeds... more commercial kinds like science diet, royal canin, eukanuba, Pro-plan, realized a long time ago that the needs of the tiny toy breeds are very specific and that they have sensitive stomachs ... Please think of it with care and take your time to research on that area. Your baby may have a sensitive stomach and you may be feeding a food that is too rich for him, so the rice calms him .... Also check the royal canin site for explanation on the dry food "only" benefits. I am a big advocate of the the dry food only diet. My yorkies love it and are very healthy, only time we have stomach upsets is with the females when close to labor .. Good luck.

| I've cut out almost all treats, except for a bit of string cheese after he goes pottying outside. Is it normal to develop stomach sensitivity at 6 months? We've had him for over 3 months, and up till last week, he's had a stomach of iron - eats anything and everything, and is always pooping fine. I just don't know why the vomiting/regurgitation is happening now when he is almost 7 months old. |

Anyway, can you get to a good pet food boutique? I'd suggest Natures Variety Duck Meal & Turkey or perhaps Canidae.

| Aw thanks for asking - we'v had 3 puke free nights! Yippie - hopefully it was just a weird bug that took its course. The weird thing is, he's been eating this bag of wellness food for the last 2 months w/o problems...so I don't think its the bag of food...in any case, I'm so happy he's stopped throwing up - today, I'm going back to regular food, he is not such a fan or white rice : ) |
