| leg injury. Please help Today, I called lola, and I noticed that she try to come over, but she could not move from the same spot. I lift her little body and I noticed that her right posterior leg was not moving. I dont know when, or how it happened. I dont have much experience with puppies. That is why I am asking for some advice. I call the vet office, but is midnight, and there is not answer. I went on line, and I did some research. I found out that in case of a fracture of a puppy her age, an elastic bandage is aplyed. and is supposed to be left on the leg for 15 days. The thing is, that only an hour has passed, and she is walking. Should I remove the bandages? I think she is in pain because she is being crying. Please, who ever has gone through this, let me know about your experience with this kind of situation. thanks. |

| Yes, if it is a fracture, you don't want to mess with it. Please call your vet. Best wishes.

| I have to wait till the morning. There is not an emergency vet in my area. I looked that up. The closest vet is located over an hour from me. Right now, is hard to make her rest. All she is doing is jumping and runing behind trixy, on all three legs. |

| If it's as serious as others are saying then I'd almost call and drive for a hour to get her there so she can be treated, would you rather drive the hour and have her safe or wait it out and things get worse? Are you 100% sure there's no emergency vet closer? Even in the small town I live in, we have an emergency number for the vet.

| No there is not an emergency vet in town. There is not a supermarket, there is not, a farmacy. I only mention the distance, to the vet to make a point of the fact, that I live in the boondocks. I will most, defenetly without a doubt drive not one but five hours for her. Yet, In my case, driving at night would be a suicide (can't drive at night). |

I just don't understand how you wouldn't be able to get to an emergency vet if you need to, that's very risky. I don't really know what else to say.

| Maybe she just sprained it or something... hope all is well with her and it's nothing too serious. I will keep you all in my thoughts tonight and tomorrow that everything is alright! I'd definitely ask the vet tomorrow too what you need to do in an emergency as you need to seriously have a back up plan. Things can happen in the blink of an eye!

| I've had similar situations with my 2 when they were little. Lucy jumped off the couch when she was very young and sprained one of her back legs. I took her to the vet and had it x-ray'd to make sure she would be all right. She didn't move that leg for over a week and I was terrified. I finally filled the bathtub with warm water, put her in, supported her belly and let her "swim". The exercise was good for her and my vet approved. You might want to consider this IF your vet approves and your baby doesn't have ligament injuries. I had the same thing happen with Rebel, but his injury was complicated by LP. He ended up with a torn ligament and had to have the ligament repaired and the LP surgery all at once. Entirely different situation. I hope your baby is better today - please update after your vet visit.

| I just came back from the vet's . When he asked me wich leg, I had a hard time remembering wich one. I had to replay the whole incident in my head. Then I remember, it was the right posterior leg. There was nothing wrong with it. He asked if she was outside prior to this. I said yes. she was in the backyard for about 20 minutes. Her pows are big, unlike my yorkie's, so we figured, she might had something stock in her paw last night, but I was to frightened to see it. He told me to bring her back if I notice anything, strange, about her behavior. The funny thing is that she jumped on his chair at soon we got inside. She jumped out, and start running around playing, the try to catch me game. I feel very silly now. I want to thank everyone for your concern, and for answering to this thread. |
