| Please help! Vomiting Izzy has been vomiting a lot lately. He was on wee bits, then I switched to Newmans Organics. He ate that with no problem then we ran out and all I could get at the time was chicken soup for the soul, he ate that but threw it up. So i gave him Dr. Harveys until I could get him back on the Newmans and he threw that up. Im thinking that maybe Ive switched his food too many times which may be upsetting his stomach. He hasnt been eating normally for the past two weeks. What should I do? I feel so bad. Oh yeah, also Ive been giving him Old Mother hubbard treats...like two or three a day. Im also wondering if that could be the problem too. It seems like the vomiting started more after I bought them. I didnt give him any for two days and he was fine. When I gave him another one it started up again. I dont know...Im confused and worried. Any advice would help at this point.

| I'm sure that others mire knowledgeable than me will show up soon. All I could suggest is to stop the treats for now. Start him on a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and rice and see if he will keep that down. Be sure to prevent hypoglycemia by using Nutrical,Pedialyte or Karo syrup. Be sure he is drinking water. Do a search here on vomiting and see if you can find what others have suggested in the past. Others will wake up soon and have some suggestions. Good luck.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Aw, it's okay - you'll get him settled back in . Stop all treats right away. Get him back on the Newmans immediately - since he had no upset while on that food. And then, if you *do* want to switch to a different food long-term - you'll want to choose based upon the things might be common ingredients in the foods that are causing him upset. In other words - look at that bag of treats - what's in there? If you give us the exact name of those treats, some of us can take a look and might be able to guess at what might be common to the treats and the other 2 foods that could be upsetting him - compared to Newmans. Also, he's not a puppy is he? He's an adult? If he's a puppy, there could be some other things to check out at the vets.

| He's an adult, just turned 2 today! Thats another reason why I feel bad, its his birthday. I was going to take him out and spend the day but I want to make sure he is well. I stopped the treats. Before I read your post I gave him some chicken and rice. So far he is okay. Should I give him the newmans today or should I wait until tomorrow? His poop has been normal and he is drinking water. Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm really thinking it's Wheat, Wheat, and Wheat! I really do. Since the treats were fed along side the foods - and they coincided with the vomiting - and they're NOT in the other foods (nor in Newmans) - I'm thinking wheat. I think if you discontinue the wheat, you *may* be able to feed one of the other foods besides Newmans - just as long as there is no wheat. That'll be an ingredient to always look for going forward, but good you found that out!

| OH I see...wow that is interesting! Thank you for the advice. I threw the treats away and will be buying another kind...minus the wheat! How long should I feed the chicken and rice? He has been eating it for the second day and no problems so far. He just hasnt pooped yet. Maybe that will happen later I suppose?

| [QUOTE=Wylie's Mom;2187324]I'm thinking the homecooking may be causing constipation, so if it were me - I'd probably get him back on the last known food that he was healthy on - which was that Newmans, asap - and go from there. If he has problems again - skip the chicken - and just feed rice, bc you don't really want any more chicken in there until he poos. [/QUOT Yeah, I am going to get him back on the newmans. he pooped a little about an hour ago but it wasnt the normal amount. Thank you so much for the advice. I really appreciate it!
