Can't get the eye gunk out!! Ok, so my baby was at the animal hospital for a week with disc disease. I brought him home and he is doing much better but I usually clean his eyes daily with a warm washcloth, but it hadn't been done for over a week and now he has huge solid clumps in the corner of his eyes and I can't get them out! They don't loosen up when I put water and baby shampoo on them. I'm not sure what to do and I don't want it to lead to an eye infection. Advice?!

A warm wet cloth will soften it and then it can be combed out.

Wet the area and get a flea comb to get it out.

| Have you tried eye wash (sold at drug store...sterile water...not contact solution)?

This is precisely what I do - I have her main comb and then a small one inch comb I use for her face. (as not to poke out an eye!) I wet the area - than comb through it as I would a matt - kind of - but very gently. Good Luck! ~ Sky

Even a warm washcloth wouldnt work. I had to take him to the vet and get it shaved off. We just got back and I feel terrible. It's all raw and infected underneath.
