| 20wk old male yorkie has sore throat Hi all, We have a 20wk old male yorkie that we just recently switched back over to a combination of hard/soft puppy food since he wasn't eating his hard puppy food as much. The day that we switched over he ate up the food without a problem until that night he vomitted twice to which I feel like was from eating too much. It is our fault for putting to much down there at the time. Now after vomitting we have taken him to the vet who said he had a sore throat. Antibiotics were given and we have been giving him his regular dose. He will feel better for a little bit but right now he will walk around aimlessly like it hurts to move his neck, and he'll just keep on walking. He keeps his mouth partly open and drolls. We have taken him to the vet again today after last week's visit. They said to continue with the antibiotics. What kind of other treatments can I do to help my little guy feel better? He will eat the small portions that we feed him, and he'll drink water just fine. Please let me know as any help will be wonderful. Thank you all! |

| I am so sorry your little guy is not feeling good. It looks like the antibotics should have knocked it by now. Maybe it would not hurt to get another opionion just to make sure it is a sore throat. Hope he feels better soon. |

| Thank you for the reply, Still giving him his antibiotics but he still drools and walks around without paying attention. He wants to play but his throat must still be sore. I will take him to a different vet soon to see what a second analysis says. Thank you for taking the time to read. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I am concerned w/ these symptoms - so, after he eats - he drools and is walking around with (kind of) an odd gait and/or keeps walking? Plus there is nausea/vomiting? When you say he is "not paying attention" after eating - does he seem out of it? If yes, it makes me think of possible liver shunt as these are symptoms - and I really think you need to get a bile acid test immediately. Why/how did your vet diagnose a "sore throat"? Also, WELCOME to YT, you'll find a lot of support here.
