Default engorged tick on sedrick

After I gave Sedrick his bath tonight, I was drying his face when I felt a lump(about 1 inch from his eye) that turned out to be an almost fully engorged tick. I did manage to remove the entire tick(i think) using the tweezer method (the tick had some flesh still in it's mouth). He now has a large red welt(a little bit smaller than the size of dime) that is extremely irritated and very itchy. Is this normal after you remove the tick and what should I treat him with overnight? I did use a bit of peroxide to clean the area and also applied antibiotic ointment.
Thanks

Thanks. I think I did everything right, but I worry about infection being so close to his eye. Also Sedrick has AAS and his neck is fused so he does not have normal mobility of his neck and the only way he can scratch is by rubbing his face on whatever corner he can find.

Oh that poor baby. It is great that you found the tick. And sounds like you took good care of his bite area. I have never dealt with tick bites so I don't know what to tell you.. I hope everything turns out ok for you.

What you did should be find just watch the area for signs it isn't healing correctly.

thanks
I've found several ticks on Sedrick in the past, but never one that has been engorged so I am a little bit concerned about it.

OH please give Sedrick a belly rub from us. I am so glad to hear that he also rubs his face because Babybear does this too.. Thank you for letting us know that he is a normal AAI/AAS pup.meaning BB.
Does Sedrick get the lyme shot?? I have an option to get one for BB but where he is not out much Doc Paul says we do not need to put that kind of stress on his already stressed system.

Poor sedrick. I have found a tick on my Holly before and it was a bit red afterwards. I also used the triple antibiotic ointment as I am always concerned about Lime disease or any other tick-borne diseases. It went away after a few days.
I would say that you did a great job taking it out and I think it's normal that it's a little irritated after the tick being attached to the skin but I would monitor it closely to make sure it doesn't become infected. I really hope it heals fast.

So how is lil' Sedrick boo boo this morning. Hoping all has gone back to normal. I remember keeping up with your threads about him when I first joined YT a few years ago, and have thought of him. how has he been? Hugs from Giz, Bubba and me.
