Senior Yorkie Talker | We had the biggest scare today! Our little 10 weeks old morkie Polo was playing with with our 14 months old yorkie Chanel on the sofa with my 13 year old son. Polo accidentaly fell and my son saw him on his back all curled up with his neck on the side making a weired sound like as if he couldn't breath. He looked helpless and couldn't walk. We all cried thinking he was going to die. He was still breathing with bubbly sounds, so we called the vet and brought him in immediately. Once we got there, Polo seemed a bit better for he was moving his head as he started to walk and the vet felt no broken bones. The vet gave him a canned food to see if he would eat and he did for he wouldnt stop eating it. We were releived that he was doing better. The vet said to just keep an eye on him and beleived that he sufered from a seizer which might have lead him to fall from the sofa. As soon as we got home he began to vomit. I called the vet and said that it could be from the new food, the fall, or the ride back home and to call back if he vomits again. we gave him his regular food and drank some water and we also gave him a drop of nutra cal and has not vomit for about 4 hours now. We are just so worried about him, we pray that he doen't have any head injuries and hopfully will not vomit again. |

| oh hon, this is scary. Several dogs have faced serious injury or died from falls. Please, please watch him. The scary thing is he could have AIA or ASX- you really should PM BLEU BOY BARBER or Mybabe4me If you look at their threads you will see how serious this condition is - praying Polo will heal fast and you don't have to worry

| Hi there Hon.. Sorry to hear about Polo.. I just go the IM from Yorkiesmiles and I am in the middle of one of Babybear's therapies but I wanted to at least get you started on what you could be facing.. I do not like how the doc sent you home with no xrays for one.. But please go to Babybear's dogster page in his story to the right hand side of the screen you will see how we explain what AAI(Atlantoaxial Instability/Sublaxation) is all about.. Your doc can not tell if the neck is broken by feeling it.. So please.. Read this Dog profile for Wheelie Boy Babybear, a male Yorkshire Terrier this is Babybear's page then please scroll down and you will see the second entry in his diary is how he became disabled.. After I get back from finishing up his therapy I will write more to you.... I will pray that Polo is okay and he needs no further help.. Just thought I would give you a head started on AAI/AAS.

Senior Yorkie Talker | She gave him food for she thought he got seizers from low sugar since she felt that he had no broken bones and started walking in the vet's office, weak but walking which made us feel good about that. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | I want to thank everyone Polo is doing better, he is eating and drinking fine and has not vomit and is starting to be playful as usual. we are being extra careful with him. I had never seen a pet get seizers before and did not know how to react to it. we hope we'll never have to experience this again. It's the worst feeling when you think that your pet is in danger, it makes you realize how much you really love them and are willing to do anything to help them We want to Thank everyone for your kindness and concern about Polo. We will continue to watch Polo and Thanks again for your prayers. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Prayers for Babybear Quote:
I'm so very very sorry for what you have been through. We'll pray for Babybear to live for many many years. You have been a very good mom to him and he knows that. I give you and your family lots of credit and may God Bless you all especially Babybear, He is a cutie! I will see my vet next week for Polo has an appointment for his shots. I will mention to her about AAI and see if Polo needs ex-rays to make sure, so far he's been doing good and we pray that it continues that way. | |

| I'm so sorry your baby was injured. When Lucy was injured, we first thought she had pulled muscles, as nothing showed up on the xray taken at my vets office. She was walking around, but she walked in circles a lot or sideways. She shook her head a lot (we found this was from a severe headache). After a week on muscle relaxers, with no improvement, my vet suggested a neurologist as her symptoms appeared to him to be neurological. I was already worried about AAI/AAS, because I had been following Blue Boy Barber's thread and read the story of Baby Bear. When I took her to the neurologist, the first thing he said was that he heard I'd been on the internet, like I was crazy for beleiving that stuff. But, he ordered a different kind of xray that showed that her neck was broken in the antlantoaxial region (AAI/AAS). After the surgery the neurologist told me that he was surprized that Lucy was alive, let alone walking, because the injury to her spinal cord was so severe. He also said that, even though she didn't act like it, she had to have been in a lot of pain, because of the way the point of the vertebrae was pressing into her spinal cord. Your regular vet cannot find a broken vertebrae by feeling it. He probably doesn't even have the correct equipment to find it with xray. I recommend that you get a second opinion, especially if your baby is shaking his head or walking in an unusual manner. I pray that it isn't AAI/AAS. I wouldn't want that for anybody. But, don't be afraid to insist that he be checked for that. If that's what it is, another fall could paralyze him permanently or kill him. |
