| eye infection I tried to search this but apparently eye is too common a word... Anyway, I woke up this morning and Lexie's eyes were matted shut with eye gunk. I got a baby wipe and gently cleaned her all up. That lasted about a half hour to an hour before she had more eye boogies, definitely an infection. It's yellowy, greenish clear. Is there anything I can do to keep her comfortable until we can go to the vet on Monday? I'm sure she just needs some eye drops, but I know it can't be fun to have eye boogies 24/7. Suggestions? Causes? Is it contagious for me and Tucker? Thanks in advance!

| Warm saline compresses. Use a clean soft washcloth or several folded papertowels wet with a saline solution (if you don't have any use water) and heat in the microwave for a few seconds. Be sure to test it and make sure it isn't too hot. Hold the compress against her eye and reheat as necessary - keep the heat on her eye for 15 minutes several times a day. You could even heat a bowl of water so that it would be more convenient to rewarm clean compresses. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Maya my pom had that a couple of weeks ago of course on a Sunday so I called Animal er and they said oh don't wait until Monday she is in pain. So I took her in and they gave me ointment. Seriously she did not lool like it was painful just irratated, I was kind of mad becasue it cost me a fortune and I also mentioned she seemed conjested and couldn't lay down comfortably and they said she was ok. 2 days later she couldn't breath so I took her to my regular vet and she was in full blown conjestive heart failure, which they totally missed. I sometimes think they make you feel bad so you will bring them in and spend a fortune for something that could wait until regular vet hours. Maya's eye was fine the next day so I think you can wait and just use the compresses on her eye. None of my others or myself caught it so I wouldn't worry

| poor sweet girl. That was Layla earlier this week. If it is an eye infection it is contagious to human. We got eye ointment and within 24 hours i noticed a difference. |

| I always keep Terramycin on hand for bouts of conjunctivitis. A prescription isn't required and my vet said it was fine to use. I order it online, though. I've never seen it in stores. It won't help you this time, but it's a good thing to have in your doggie first aid kit. Terramycin for Infections in Dogs Cats Cattle Sheep and Horses |

But, once you're familiar w/ conjuctivitis - having an ointment on hand would be really great.

| TWO boughts of this Quote:
My little Davey has had 2 boughts of conjunctivitis, the night we got him from the breeder I noticed an eye discharge, she had thought it was from a nasal vaccine. I took him to the vet the next morning and he was placed on gentamycin drops. He had this again with in 2 weeks later and we gave the medication as directed. At this time the vet thought he saw a second row of lower lid eye lashes? If he has another bought of this in the near future they advised he see a specialist to see if he trully has the second row of lashes, they trimmed all the hair away from his eyes. His sclera looks kind of blood shot often. So far he doesn't have any further eye boogies. I also used very warm water but I used cotton balls to wash each eye a couple times a day.

Dogs aren't supposed to have lashes on the lower lid. He may have Distichia which is explained here: Distichia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Distichia is hereditary in Yorkies: Yorkshire Terrier Dog DNA Breed Testing - Canine DNA Testing - Dog-DNA.com

| My Miracle Discovery! I just saw your post...I have to leave for work in a few minutes ..so i will give you the name of this fabulous remedy. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU ONLY USE THIS BRAND...THE REASON IS THAT THERE ARE OTHER COLLIADAL SILVER PRODUCTS AND THEY MAY NOT BE PURE, THEY MAY CONTAIN SILVER PROTEINS WHICH ARE NOT GOOD. THE PRODUCT IS "SOVERN SILVER" available at health food stores...the only pure colliadal silver on the market today, and for sale in the health food stores. The only other PURE colliadal silver is MESO SILVER only available online I have done extensive research on these products. I once got a terrible eye infection...used a few drops of Sovern Silver: in two hours it was gone. I have used this on my Yorkie with amazing results for eye infections, cleared kennel cough in three days (gone) When I come home at 3:00 today i will get back on and tell you all about it. In the meantime, research these two products online. They are completely safe and natural. Back in the 1930's colliadal silver was a widely used for many illnesses. It literally kills 650 strains of bacteria and also VIRUS! the standard antibiotic kills about 8 strains of bacteria and NO VIRUS. My close friend started giving this to her Maltese with pneumonia and she was completely better in 6 days. I have been wanting to share this with YT , I have used it and completely believe in it. Remember, if you decide to follow up on this...DO NOT BUY ANY OTHER SILVER PRODUCT UNLESS YOU ARE POSITIVE THAT IT IS FREE FROM ANY SILVER PROTEINS> I JUST WOULDN"T TAKE THE CHANCE Talk to you later Patti Years ago I came down with a sinus infection that would not go away. The Dr. gave me many rounds of antibiotics and no help. I began researching for my own cure. That is when I discovered "Mesosilver". |
