| Sorry not to search ...diarrhoea... In a bit of a panic ...sorry, not good at "searching" anyway ....my THREE yorkies are down with a sickness/diarrhoea "virus" or whatever....??? My little one is the worst ...but both girls show blood in the motions....?? NOT parvo (cannot be!) ....I have given them all medication which usually works great but not seen blood before (not much, just red colored diarrhoea) .... I am in Europe so cannot get medications you can get in the USA.... My little girl just refuesed her meal ...feeding only chicken (they hate rice!!) and a dog food recommended by vets here (only a tiny bit) ..... I also have tuna that I bought today in a tin (in springwater) so may try tomorrow..?? A nightmare having all three ill...any suggestions please?? (WILL be at the VETS tomorrow!!) ....just any advice in the meantime please?? Thank you so much!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Poor babies! Glad you can get to the vet tomorrow. In the meantime, make sure they are drinking a lot of water - be sure their gums are pink, not white (pink means they are staying hydrated). Can you get either canned potatoes or regular potatoes? If yes, make some mashed potatoes - put a bit of butter on them and feed just that until you go to the vet. Also, if you can get some canned pumpkin - give that for diarrhea. And, some yogurt for their intestines.

| You need to keep them hydrated. Are they drinking water? If not you'll need to force some on them, do you have a syringe? I don't know if I would try tuna That might make their tummies upset. Do you have a food processer? If so, you can put the rice and chicken in the processer and it will chop it all up together, so they can't pick out the chicken. Also, I would cook a chicken breast like this: in a frying pan, put a tiny drop of oil or cooking spray, put the chicken in for a few minutes on both sides (the meat will start to turn white) then pour about 1/2 cup of water in and cover with the lid, you'll have to turn the chicken a few times, but it shouldn't take long to cook. Once cooked put the chicken to side (and puree it if you have the food processer, if not, cut it up) - Now back to the pan, if you have a fine drainer, drain the 'gross' stuff, but keep the broth - Yummy! You'll need to add a little more water to the broth, but you can use this to pour on their food and even get them to drink it as it will help to hydrate. Keep us posted |

| my vet says if they are hungry they will eat the rice. i would not give them tuna in a can. i would be concerned with mercury in their compromised intestines.
