| I need help I dont know what to do I hate to do this and it's driving me crazy but I took my baby to the ASPCA hospital called BERGHs hospital in NYC to see if they could help financially with Charlies surgery for leggs parthese and they said if he doesn't get the surgery now his prognosis for recovery does not look good and according to them I don't qualify for help because my dog isn't a service dog, I'm not an elderly person and I'm not under the age of 16, which I think is so not fair. I was hoping a personal loan I was trying to get from my bank went through but I was denied, I set up the surgery with the surgeon and everything for the 20th but now I will have to cancel. I don't know when I will have the money for this surgery and I don't want my baby in pain, I think I might have to put him to sleep, I want what is best for my baby and for him to be on pain medication for the rest of his life because I can't afford to get the surgery done now is not acceptable. I love my Charlie but if I can't get him this surgery then I have to put him to sleep, is there anybody who knows of a hospital near NY, PA, MA, NJ or CT that will accept a payment plan??? Or of any insurance other than care credit??? I have thought of everything, I have $800 to go towards his surgery I don't know where i will get the rest I've asked family, but everyone I know is doing bad, things in CT are so expensive. I haven't even paid my car payment because my car payment, insurance money, and my light bill is what makes up the $800 I have saved for my baby, I walk dogs on the weekends for extra money and I do hair but it's just not enough especially with the bills I have, like I said in a previous post three years ago when I first got my babies I was doing great the real estate market in CT was booming but since the real estate market crashed and I had to use my savings for Sabrina's C-section and for property taxes this year I've been forced to take on three jobs, two full time jobs mon-fri and walking dogs and doing hair on the weekends just to survive. I don't know what to do, if anyone at all has any suggestions please let me know he does not have much time. |

| I have not gotten in touch with any rescues I don't know of any near by... as far as shelters, almost all of the dog shelters here in CT are euthanizing their dogs after just a week because they claim they do not have enough funds to care for them, I doubt they will help me with my dog but I will try. I signed up for the pet fund but they have a waiting list. |

| What a sad situation to be in. The care credit card is the only one I know about but I'm sure someone here will be able to give you more info. I would keep my pet on medication for the rest of it's life if it helped before I would even consider PTS. If the meds work now then continue and just keep saving. I hope someone else can better assist you. Good luck to you and please give that sweet baby of yours a big hug from us. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Did you see this thread? Maybe there's help here for him... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...vet-bills.html Do you have a credit card? You could always charge the surgery or get a cash advance. Poor little lamb...

| I've even considered getting him a wheel chair until I can afford to get him the surgery but even a wheelchair cost money, I can get one for $300 called Eddy's wheels and it's right next door to me in Massachusetts but that $300 will have to come out of the money I already have saved for his surgery. I just don't know what to do anymore, honestly I think all of us pet owners need to get together and fight the government to allow us to claim our furbabies or birds or whatever we own as pets on our tax returns because really just for shots and regular vet care for one dog it cost me about $1200 per year and that is just one dog, I'm talking shots, regular check ups, dental cleaning, etc. Then what bothers me is the goverment wants you to pay to register your babies and they want you to follow all these rules you could even get arrested in some places for not treating your pets right or neglect yet you cannot claim them on your taxes, that would have been such a relief to me if I would have been able to claim them but it just isn't possible and I dont; think that is fair. |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **NOTICE** Effective June 7 IMOM cannot accept any new applications until further notice. We have too many pets we're trying to help now. Donations are lower than ever before in IMOM history. If your pet is in a life threatening emergency and your veterinarian confirms that in writing, we MAY be able to help. Follow the instructions for emergencies. You will know when we re-open because this message will be gone. Please do not write to us to ask when we will open again. We'll open as soon as we can. this is just one of the links on that thread, some of the links are not for dogs or cats at all but for guinea pigs and such. Most of these programs have waiting list as I state earlier I'm already on one waiting list but just like the counselor who I was talking to at The Pet Fund told me people have been on the waiting list for up to 15 months, that is a long time to wait for Charlie to have his surgery by then I would have saved the money but by then it would be too late, like the doctor said he legg parthese is really bad, eventually he is going to wear the muscles in his knees down and then he will need a whole other surgery and with bad knees he will not have a chance at a full recovery from the legg parthese surgery, this is just toooo much it's times like these I wish the world would hurry up and end already and I won't have to suffer nor my babies. | |

| You said you have a car payment? Have you considered selling your car and purchasing a cheaper, used one with the money so that you wouldn't have car payments? |

If your willing to give him us try a resuce such as Yorkierescueme.com Perhaps they would be willing to take him and get his surgery. You could also offer them a donation out of the money you have saved. Anything to help him. They are in NJ. | |

| Looks like Archie has given you quite a few to check with. I'm sure there has to be something on that list that can help. Just please, don't put that baby down. If all else fails, then let United Yorkie Rescue have him. United Yorkie Rescue If you do find a way to get his operation, keep in mind that he will not be able to run around for 8 weeks till the pen is removed. I hope you can be home with him or take him to work with you, or even have a friend and/or family member help you out. As was mentioned before, you could sell your car (NEVER trade) and get one you can pay cash for and still have money for the surgery. That's exactly what I would do in that situation. Doesn't sound as if you should have a car payment right now anyway. Go on line to Kelly Blue Book and see what your car is worth. Never buy a used car from a dealer either. Always buy from the owner and keep in mind that everyone ALWAYS list's the car a few hundred dollars more than they actually want. I want to say good luck to you and you do have other choices rather than putting your baby down. |

| I will be praying for you and Charlie. I would apply for a credit card and charge it. But if can not do that, please surrender him to a reputable Yorkie Rescue. They are listed in the rescue forum |
