Default he had one does of Baytril Iv at the hospital

I wonder if getting a does of Baytril and then being put on Flagyl would reflect with the Bile Acid test? He had been put on Amoxicillin on Saturday so he had 2 full days of antibiotics before the blood was drawn for the BAT.
The results came back elevated, both the fasting and after eating. I can't remember what the first test result was but the Vet said the nonfasting was 99. He is eating but he was sent home on regular food nad he doesn't want to eat it, so I ground uphis puppy food(Royal Caninand half eukenuba) and I added it to Activia. He has had soft stool today but yesterday it was formed and regular. I took a sample to the Dr. office Tuesday and he said it was dark and could be indicative of old blood. So hopefully the antibiotics will heal his gut.
This has been nerve racking, my daughter was crying her eyes out yesterday because she thinks Davey is going to Die without surgery.

Time will tell. I called the breeder and she wants to see the test results and she informed me she has never had a Liver shunt puppy from the parents of this dog. She is very upset about this and praying for him to pull through. She told me of another buyer of one of her pups that was giving the pup table scraps and the pup got really sick and almost died, after she got it on a regular diet the pup got better.

We're pulling for little Davey. I'm sorry all this is happening.

Many vets are too quick to think liver shunt..I would be very surprised if your boy had normal numbers with all he is going through...medication and stress can and will cause his test results to be inaccurate regarding a shunt...best wishes

PS..Bile acid at 12 weeks from a sick puppy on medication are just about useless...so do not freak if they are high...get him well, and settled in your home and repeat in a few months..
