| Leggs Parthese disease Does anyone have a yorkie who already had this surgery and has recovered? My Charlie needs the surgery on both leggs and the vet tells me he won't have the same trot, he has the cutest trot, she says he will walk funny, does someone have a yorkie who is recovered and walking??? If so can you video tape your baby walking for me and let me see how much of a difference there is in the yorkie's trot after the surgery, hopefully someone has before and after video's if not I guess I will have to be the first one. |

| The clinic I used to work for has done this surgery several times. If you really work with him on building up the muscles in his legs his gait after complete recovery should not be much different than it is now!

| Our YT, Kiki, had Leggs Parthese. We were very concerned about the recovery, and talked several times with our vet, we decided to have the surgery, and are glad we did. The first few days she was pretty drugged, but could walk. We did some range of motion exercixses, iced the hip, and tried to keep her activity level down. Its been almost 3 months, and she walks almost completely normal. The hip muscles had atrophied pretty bad, so it will take a lot of time for them to get back to their full strength. If you did not know she had the surgery, you can not tell by watching her walk or run! Our only regret is that we did not do it sooner! Oh, and if you are curious, the cost was $1600. At this point well worth it. Clyde |

| I have fostered a few pups that have had this surgery...sorry but I have no videos... in the beginning they did walk alittle stiff, but we exercised them (vet reccomended after two weeks) and built up their muscle mass and they seem to walk just fine...and run...one little girl I just fostered...was running and playing with my guys two weeks after the surgery..she had one hip done and is 10 months old.... |
