Default pot op complicationa

helloeveryone,
I am just wondering if anyone e lse has had this problem; We took our 6 month old baby to be spayed on Tusday, everyhing went fine, although they did nt give a lampshade over her head, said she did nt need it. well apart f rom being quiet as you would expect all was fine. Two days later there was a swelling round her stitches, took her straight back, the vet said the stitches had come away inside and out so they needed to operate again, well i was not pleased, but left her and when we went in the afternoon to get her the vet said her stitches had broken AGAIN at the vets !!!
They are mistified and cannot tell me why they keep breaking, as i type we had to leave kinnykins overnight at the vets waiting this morning for her 3rd op in 3 days. They tell me its the last 2 layers muscle and fat that are not closing, they are worried too and have phoned other vets in the area to see if they have had this problem before. has anyone got any ideas ??:

Unhappy post op complications

just an up date, I have collected kinny kins this morning, the vets say they have doubled the stitches and used a different technique she is understandable quiet qnd withdrawn, she refused to come out of her carrier forhalf an hour so i left her to come out, all she has done is walk to her bed and lay down, on inspection of her scari see there is a bulge on one ide of the scar, I really hope its not the stitches given way again, she has nt done anything, im watching to see if it gets any bigger before asking the vet for advice im scared to put herthrough any more poor baby

Oh, my. How devastating for your Kinnykins. I'd be getting majorly worried, too. Going under that many times is definitely not good for the health. Yikes!!!! Prayers. Please keep us updated.

WOW - how sad & weird - hope all turns out well. I had my three spayed or neutered and never had the smallest of problems. Keep us updated.

This is terrible. I have to question if the suture material is defective? Ask the vet if any other animals who had surgery using the same suture lot have had problems. You might suggest they get some suture material from a different lot or use a different brand this next go around. If it is bad suture, I would sure be suing for the cost of all of these surgeries, not to mention the pain your baby must endure as a result. Also, ask for a package of the suture material that was used in each of the first two procedures (it would be worth a few bucks to buy them) or at minimum, ask them to save the sutures for you during this next procedure. Just be sure to get the name and lot number.

That is so terrible. Your poor baby and you. After you make sure your baby is ok I would persue finding out if it was the vets stitching or defective thread. I thought that the inside stitches were dissolvable and maybe a problem with them being defective. I hope sheis ok now and can recover in piece.

Default post op complications

hello everyone, many thanks for your suggestions and concerns, I have an update, we have spent an understandably quiet day, on the good side poor little thing was starving so she has wolfed down 2 small meals, the lump is still there on her op site but it has n got any bigger, (but i only think this is becase she has nt moved much ) we are not out of the woods yet im afraid, i have not told the vet about the lump, just hoping its swelling due to the 3 times messing about at the same site, cannot face another trip there t least she is beginning to totter about a bit although she cant figure out distances with her "lampshade "on, I will ask more questions if we get through the next 3 days ....

I hope little kinnykins gets better soon. Poor little thing. I am sure that she is not having much fun with that cone thing on much less all the extra procedures and stuff. Sorry that she is going thru so much.
