Default not eating , watery poop !!

Cooper has not been eating well for 2 days. We went to obedience class last night and he seemed okay. He had eaten a few pieces of chicken and rice earlier, but not his usual amount. I woke up early this morning to find he got sick on my bed and also had pooped all over my bathroom ( Thankfully its tile) Anyway I wondered what would be best to feed him. He usually has his dry food and access to water in his kennel when I go to work, do you think this is ok for today. Going to have my daughter check in on him later this morning.

Check out this site. Looks like the information is pretty good. The first thing to note is that it suggests a call to the vet if vomiting goes on longer than 24 hours. Good luck.

Treatment for dogs that are vomiting or have diarrhea.

Try feeding Cooper some rice. This helps their tummy when they are sick. I would just take him to the vet if this has been going on for two days. Hope he gets better.

The not eating much has been 2 days, the getting sick was just last night, but he was acting normal before I left for work. My daughter is going to look in on him in a couple hours . Cooper likes vanila yogurt , I was thinking a little of this might not hurt either, besides the brown rice I will give him tonight. BUT if he is the same as he was last night anytime today I am taking him to the vets as soon as I get home...

I would give him a little plain, or vanilla yogart to calm his tummy, and if he poop is still watery, maybe a little pumpkin! It works wonders.

I would give canned, mashed potatoes as my first choice, then white rice. Also give canned pumpkin. But, after 2 days of it, I'd actually be going to the vet.

I work at an animal hospital. Our doctor's recommend pulling food and water up for 6 hours then slowly reintroduce LIMITED amounts of water and cooked white rice with boiled hamburger. There should be about 3/4 rice and 1/4 hamburger. Only give 1 tablespoon then wait an hour to see if it stays down. If so give another tablespoon. If all is going well keep feeding 1/4 cup of this for am, lunch and dinner for 48 hours. Consider getting a sample of that stool to your vet for a fecal check.

Thanks for the advise , it makes sense to me. But I did take him to the vets and was told he got into something, maybe grass or could be most anything. Anyway he gave him a shot to reduce the amount of acid his stomach would produce, gave him 2 prescriptions and science diet prescription food. And of yeah the bill for 64 dollars..LOL Started thinking about Coopers habits outside, He does eat grass, but I guess I always thought that was normal , learn something new everyday... Also I fixed my flower garden and a few outside cats seem to think its a good cat box!!! I caught Cooper eating cat poop the other day mulch and all SO it could be that to. I just went out and bought a short fence to go around the garden, just high enough to keep Cooper out, now I have to figure out how to keep the cats out....But you mentioned boiled hamburger, so I am curious. I have always fed boiled chicken, rive ,veggies like sweet potato. I always thought the beef was the worst one to feed them. BUt I have seen it suggested several times. Does the vet you work for feel it is good for them?

Sounds like you have the same homemade recipe I use except sometimes I sub the sweet potato for apples. Beef is not good for anyone and the doctor's here suggest the boiled hamburger because it is known to perk the interest in food and get them eating again, considered irresistable in most cases despite the grossness of being boiled. You can sub chicken in but it should be boiled too considering the stomach upset. We had the same problem with our neighborhood beast of a cat crapping in our flower beds. It's a really dangerous snack for your baby to be enjoying...think about all the hunting cats do and how they eat some portion of most of their captures. Mice and baby bunnies are known to be flea ridden and fleas host tape worm so watch out! To date there is no monthly preventative that I know of for tape worm. Everytime I see that cat step on our yard I turn the hose on him HARD so now he sits at the perimeter of our yard staring but does not come over anymore. It took probably 10 times of me nailing him before he gave up but he leaves us alone now.

Okay Cooper finished his meds and this is the 5th day after going to the vets. Last night he refused to eat, but seems fine , is running around and playing . hes drinking water okay also. This morning I couldn't get him to eat before I went to work. No vomiting or runny poop . The vet the problem could have been brought on by eating grass so I have been watching him closely and tried to stop him every time I see him eating it. It seems both him and Lucy enjoy munching on it.. I asked my daughter to check on him this morning,so far so good..
