| Distemper vaccine reaction My baby went for her distemper vaccine yesterday and has been vomitting since - 4 times yesterday and twice so far this morning. She's seems okay except for the vomitting - playful, eating, drinking, etc. The vet did mention that she might experience an upset tummy until Monday but she's so small (3 lbs) it still worries me. I called the Animal Hospital to ask if there was anything I could give her to calm her upset tummy and keep her from vomitting but she only told me not to give her anything to eat or drink. That doesn't seem right to me though, wouldn't she get dehydrated if I kept food/water from her??? Does anyone have any remedies for an upset tummy? Maggie mae (and I) would be soooo grateful |

| I believe canned pumpkin is good for upset tummies (we don't get it here), but everyone on here recommends it. I do think she would get dehydrated, give her some nutri-cal or Karo syrup. Hope this helps. Sheilagh

| A little Karo syrup and water would help settle her stomach. A little Nutri-Cal would help is she is not eating much or holding down any food. Pure canned pumpkin is used only if they have diarrhea or constipation. I hope your baby gets to feeling better soon. |

| Pumpkin I tried the pumpkin...she didn't really like it and only took a few bites...then it came back up I've put a little Kayro syrup on my finger and let her lick it off. Aside from the sickness she seems okay - hungry enough to eat and she's playing. Thank you both for your advice! I get much much more useful and relevant information from everyone on this site than I do at the vet. I'm soooo happy to have found YT!! Happy Mother's Day |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I would give her tiny bits of food to see if she keeps it down. I would be afraid of not feeding a little one and withholding water. Is she doing any better now? Hope so

| I think she's feeling better now - she hasn't been sick since this morning. She had Wellness wet puppy food for dinner and plenty of water - yah! She is scheduled to go back to the vet in two weeks for her rabies vaccine but I've been reading some of the posts regarding the rabies vaccine for yorkies and I'm nervous about that considering the distemper made her feel sick. Does anyone have any thoughts on the rabies vaccine? I would like to take her to obedience classes and I'm pretty sure it's a required vaccine. |
