| Help! My Yorkie Licked Honey! I have a yorkie, and he is almost 8 months old. I left some honey in the bowl tonight. My yorkie licked some of it, about a 1.5 tablespoons. I am really frustrated. Is honey harmful for my yorkie? What is going to happen to him? Is he going to have diarrhea? Please teach me what to do! Thank you very much! |

| I'm sorry no one has responded. I've never fed my dogs honey but on the other hand, I've never heard that it would cause problems either. Is your baby acting sick at all? I guess I would suggest calling your vet and asking just to put your mind at ease but I think she'll probably be just fine. You might have some loose stools.... |

| I have actually heard it recommended to let them lick honey if they are becoming hypoglycemic, so I don't think it should hurt. I have given it to Itsy before and she didn't have any reactions to it at all. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have used honey for a puppy with low blood sugar. That maybe a little more than is good for him but I thin he should be ok.

| When Lula was a baby we gave her honey because she was in danger of being hypoglycemic (low blood sugar). You might see a little diarrhea but your yorkie should be absolutely fine

| As with anything, moderation is the key. Honey is not, per se, dangerous as a whole...but consumed in large quantities it could be harmful to our babies because of their small size. I don't believe that the amount she had would hurt her, but just keep a close eye on her, as there is always the chance she could have an allergic reaction. Otherwise, she may just have some loose stool. You can fix that by giving her a little bit of children's pepto. |
