Default Question about Chocolate and Diarrhea

So, I have a question.

I have a yorkie boy, 4 weeks tomorrow that I have had him. I have a ferret who will be 4 in June. Anyways, the ferret, Winky, is a little thief. She stills anything shiny and anything chocolate. This evening, my puppy, Storm, found a bag of chocolate cookies. I have absolute no clue where he found these, as we cleaned out all of Winky's stashes before Storm came home. He ate about 3 or 4, I think. I gave him something so he would throw up, which he did. My question....will he have diarrhea? When will that start?

Here is a good link to read. I would try to determine how much he ate and call the vet asap for advice.

I talked to the vet. He is one that said to have him throw up, but I did not think at the time to ask about the diarrhea. I had him in his carrier, but he was crying. He wants up on the bed with me, so I was just wondering about the diarrhea. I did not think was important enough to call the emergency pet line.

Do you know how long it was before you discovered he'd eaten the chocolate? When he threw up, did the chocolate come up? It matters because some of the chocolate could have moved out of the stomach. Good job having him throw up, but if it were me, I'd still call the vet.

Sounds like you've got your hands full with the cute little thief who can easily undo all your puppy-proofing. Obviously it's adorable as long as no one gets hurt. So good luck keeping them both in line!!

Sorry, we posted at the same time. Sounds like you're out of the woods, but do be careful with your little stickyfingers (or stickypaws).

Yeah, I can't let her (the ferret) have as much freedom now, but she and Storm love to play together. They chase each other all over the house, under the beds, through the kitchen table legs...they are just adorable.

I caught him within 5 minutes or so. He was quiet and in the next room, which he stays right with me, and he threw up within 15 to 20 minutes. The throwing up scared him, and so I want him to be up on the bed with me so I can baby him a bit, but I don't want any diarrhea accidents on my bed either. He should be fine for a while though.

To answer your question, he threw up a lot. I could definitely see the cookies. Yuck...LOL!

We had a chocolate incident at Easter. They're so little; it's so scary!!

I can't wait to see the videos of Storm and the ferret (what's her name?) playing together!! (hint, hint)

Ugh! I have tried and tried to take pictures...every single time his eyes are closed....I think he does it on purpose!

The ferret is a little girl, Winky.

Glad to hear your baby is doing well. I had to get Libby to throw up once when she ate some chocolate. My vet said she would probably get diarrhea just from the hydrogen peroxide episode, but she never did get it. I hope Storm doesn't either!

I've induced vomiting before and it was almost instantaneous so I'm curious why it took 20 minutes for your baby to vomit. What did you use? I had no diarrhea
