Please say a little prayer for my Scooter. He is 12 1/2 weeks old and has a heart murmur. On Tuesday the vet thought that it sounded "alittle worse " than 3 weeks ago. Today is his appt with the Cardiologist and he will get his heart echo. I'm hoping to keep him as healthy as possible for as long as possible. I just want to give him a chance and love him everyday of his life.

Thanks for your prayers. Well, it turned out to be a good-news/bad-news situation. BAD NEWS: His murmur is a grade 6 and is from PDA (hole between the atrium and ventricles). GOOD NEWS: it can be treated with surgery. The Cardiologist recommended a local surgeon and we plan on getting this done within the next week or 2. I have to work around my husbands colonoscopy and the fact we were to pick up our new female puppy on April 28th. I'm going to talk to the breeder and see if she will keep the girl an extra week so we can get through this first stage. This is all new to me so I will starting a separate thread asking for any info/experience, etc regarding PDA's. Thanks again.

So far, Scooter is doing well. He started on the lasix (diuretic) so the potty traing is a little tougher. He must be on this for a few days before they can do the surgery.We are to keep his activity level down (not easy) but he is eating well and has energy to play with his toys . Our appt with the surgeon is on the 28th and the surery will be that week, after all bloodwork and tests are completed. I will update when I know more. Thank you for your concern.

I'm so sorry Scooter is having to deal with such a serious condition.....I will be wishing Scooter well....I'm sorry if you have already addressed this but have you contacted the breeder to see if she will cover his expenses?

I have talked with the breeder and we have come to a fair agreement. We were already planning on getting a female from her (different litter, different parents) at the end of this month. She has agreed to refund the original cost of Scooter towards the female AND if Scooter should die, she will replace him with another male.
