| My Cookie keeps puking! So the other day my boyfriend fed my lil Cookie a few tiny peices of beef jerky. The next morning she woke up and puked a couple of times out the food she had ate the night before including the beef jerky which was not digested. She then started shaking frequenty and acting strange. After puking about 4 times, i tried feeding her water and she immediately puked the water out. She continued to cough and puke out water about 2 more times after. I then took her to the vet where they injected her with water and some other stuff so that she wouldn't be dehydrated. He had told me that it's unsure if she is allergic to beef jerky but is sure that it was an allergic reaction and the beef jerky may have broke the straw on the camel's back! He directed me to put her on a low fat diet that will help her digest easier and heal her stomach for a weak before returning to her regular dry food. He had given me canned food until then and instructed me to mix it with water to form a "soup" so she would have some source of fluid. I came home and mixed her the food but she doesn't seem to be wanting to eat it! I can tell she's hungry - she hasn't ate all day. What should I do? could it be that she is not used to the canned food? Has anyone had this problem where their puppy had reacted this way to a certain type of food fed and consistently puking like this? I'm worried! |

| You might have to put it in a syringe and force feed Cookie alittle. Also you can try giving her some nutrical which will give her a little energy boost and then maybe she will eat. They get dehydrated when they are vomiting so make sure she takes some water, if not you can syringe drops into her mouth. If nothing seems to work or she gets lethargic and isn't eating I would bring her back to the vet. Good luck and I hope Cookie starts feeling better! Also tell your boyfriend not to give a puppy any people food! Their little systems can't take it!!

| She's probably lost alot of electrolytes, replace them with pedialyte or gatorade, that should help her... Hope she recovers quickly!!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | The beef jerky is probably smoked and flavored - and has all kinds of weird stuff, so I'm not surprised it was tough on your baby's system. I have also found the Prescription diets to generally NOT be liked by my guys, usually. Has she eaten anything yet? If she likes her kibble, then just add a bit of water to her kibble to moisten it (to sneak in some extra water) and see if she'll eat it - the important thing is to get some food in her.
