| I noticed that my little yorkie has a "soft spot" on her head as well. She is almost 4 months old and not quite 2 pounds, her sister doesn't have it and she's about 4 pounds. The next time I'm at the vet im going to get her check it out. |

YT 500 Club Member | Hum... I have always heard it should close. Hopefully the babies out there that still have an opening will be very happy and healthy. My breeder RIP, would not sell a pup with an open fontanelle.

| This is quite an old thread and was enjoyable to read- especially how nicely the ladies chatted with each other- but yes, the fontanelle should be closed early on and an open fontanelle is a fault, dogs with that fault should not be bred- a dog with an open fontanelle is very fragile and lives a risky often all too short life.
