| New Pup...help..plase.. I will try and make it short and to the point with details to follow since I am depending on you guys to point me in the direction on the right thing to do…I have not even got to post that my fiance and I got a new puppy……..THAT RIGHT THERE TELLS YOU THE REASON…..new puppy says it all. That is what I need help with “ normal puppy stuff”…Long story short……Female Yorkie. 15 weeks today. W hen we got her she was sick……we had no idea….and I will be writing about that later because I need some help on that issue also. Her name is Myleigh and she is the sweetest thing…………WHEN SHE IS SLEEPING..We have a one in a half yard old make……….Tyson, picture perfect Yorkie Pup…which is the reason we jumped at the chance at getting his full blooded sister, different litter. Th second she was handed to us I knew something was NOT right…12 weeks, under 2 pounds….All bones and a whole bunch of fur……..FYI, Ty was are first puppy..!! Perfect in every way, so excuse our ignorance.. She is home 3-4 days, “ white flakes” when she goes to the bathroom, next day they are moving and off to the vet we go. Vet says she is FULL of Coccidia and worms……….TAPEWORM…….all of her Coccidia med is gone and that seems to be cleared up and half of the worm pill was give………..I’m a human nurse and NEVER in my short lived nursing career have I experienced what that poor little girl had to deal with the first time she went to the bathroom after the first half of the pill. I stood there and cried as I cut her puppy coat as the worms were running up onto her coat…..after that bathroom time she was good to go. She eats like a horse and plays like a puppy even when she was sick and has just tormented Ty since she walked in the door. About 48hrs ago I noticed odd behavior, she started sleeping more, still eating and playing, but with the holiday and everyone playing with her we figured she was tired. I gave her the other half of the pill last night and before we gave it to her I noticed the small white flakes were back and after she took the pill the bathroom after that was pretty much filled with what seems to be dead long white worms, some looked sectioned and after I cleaned her up she ran around this house like she was possessed, shaking her toys, she would whenever now and then so I would pick her up and she would calm down for a min. This went on for almost 2 hours. She kept drinking and she would go pee pee and freak out again running….like almost running from herself yet going crazy on her toys…she finally is laying down so she is now in bed with her dad and I am sad and I guess I know what to do……..bring her in but what is going on..?? I want to shake this breeder but that is have to wait……..I have a MD appt myself in 2 hours…….Idont know if I wait until she goes to the bathroom again..? Is she acting this way because she feels the worms…???? Constipated. All of this is breaking my heart and I just want to hear something good, bad or indifferent. I am at a loss and cant see her go thru this, she is so sweet and I want her to better…….HELP!! |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Gosh not sure what to tell you. The meds kills them and then they pass it ..the second set of the meds should kill the larvae/eggs that they leave behind. My guess is that the meds probably cause a bit of tummy upset. Call the vet up and ask to be sure and see if it could be anything else. Sorry that she is sick. I tell you some of these damn unscrupulous breeders should be shot. Did the vet say to quarantine her from your other dog. I would probably keep them seperated for a bit being as she is sick. Sending prayers her way.

| We sent Tyson to Grandmas house the first week Myleigh was here and by the grace of God he stayed at G mas house Easter........I will post about this breeder experience in another Thread........and I wont make it a bash session but I have to vent about it.....NOW, On the other hand of Myleigh goes down hill...........whole other story but positibve thougts for now. What does your Yorkie do when they have a belly ache..? I just went into the room to throw some clothes on the go to my MD appt and she is just laying there with her daddyand she lokks up at me and wags her tail. I hate that she has to feel sick and is not able to tell me where she hurts. She loves being in the bed with her dad and even as sick as she is she gets all her energy and runs up to the top of the bed and jumps on his head to show me she doesnt want to get down.......she is laying down but not really sleeping. Now we are all 3 up, she walks around and is just not herself. I guess I will look up side effects of the pill..??? How do I know they are all gone. After I gave her t he 1st half of the pill I never saw anything else UNTIL 2 days ago.....right in time for the other half........She' not running like a crazy girl anymore, but maybe thats because she is tired......I am so confused and just want her to feel better....As I sit here I get more and more pissed at this so called breeder............ |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so sorry you are going thru all this. I would definatley call the breeder if you haven't already and I would definately get her back into the vet or at least take a stool sample. Hang in there and good luck

| I would pay for a day of boarding fee at the Vet. when I had to leave her alone. While she's this sick, she should not be alone. You should also be giving her some Nutri-Cal a couple times a day. She's going to be dehydrated quick from all the worms taking the nutrients from her. I'm sure with help, she will be back to health. Right now she is very confused and is why she is acting like she does. It's hard enough of these babies to adjust to a new home, but to have things inside her making her feel so bad just adds to it. I hope she is feeling better real soon. |

| Ahhh poor little thing!! I am actually going through the same thing right now with the worms!! My appointment with the vet is at 4pm today to get the medication to kill them! I am so not looking forward to Meekas first poop after she takes this medication! I am hoping that it doesn't make Meeka feel sick either!! What was the name of the pill that the vet gave you? I'll post and let you know what mine gives me after our appointment! Poor little things!! Did you have her treated for fleas also? I was told that's how they get tapeworms is from injesting a flea or fleas. I am having Meeka treated again with frontline to make sure that I take all precautions with her! I have never had to deal with worms before! I guess that's what I get for having her flown in from another state! Poor little girls! |

| When she was running around did she seem upset or distressed?? The reason I ask is because the behaviour you describe sounds like what my dog does when he is really happy. He goes on a tear from one toy to the next shaking them and then running from room to room, jumping on the couch and on all the chairs. We find it quite funny and call it his "devil dog" time. Maybe your girl feels so much better that she is getting this burst of energy.

| Meeka had her injection for tapeworms today and she hasn't really had any side effects from it. I have to keep her confined as it is because of her leg so there isn't alot of room for her to run around, I am sure she wouldn't run around alot even if I let her out because of her leg. It sounds to me like she is just feeling frisky and probably feels so much better! I would think having worms would cause some discomfort and with them being gone now I am sure she feels like a new pup! |

| I am going to start a new thread. I just wanted to thank you guys for your input. I wish that I could teleport you guys thru the PC to my house and tell me all will be OK. I am soooooo super sick. My MD appt was not good news, large abscess on the back of my throat, I’ll live but I hate not feeling well when the little ones are sick so I can give them 100%. I don’t even know how to describe hoe she is feeling. She is sleeping now and it seems that she is OK, but I just don’t know…….Going to start a new thread. So sorry I was not able to get back with this thread yesterday I could barely hold my head up..will put my new thread up soon…. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I want to shake that breeder too - that poor thing.....Keep up with the meds and just follow your vets advice - but NO DOG Should ever have to deal with all that - that's just terrible and the breeder should be plastered all over the net for sending you a puppy with so many treatable ailments - it's plain IRRESPONSIBLE UNCARING AND LAZY ! there's a breeder review section here - you should post her name there and your experience with that bad breeder I hope she starts feeling better soon and gets rid of all that yukky stuff - man - I'd be furious to see a puppy in that condition poor baby |

| I started to write this thread 3 days ago..!! HOWEVER…..I have 2 Yorkies which does not allow me 2 seconds to even get thru an entire thread…………..( I wouldn’t have it any other way ) Anyways, Ty is with his Dad and I have Myleigh….worm and Coccidia free I must say , I still have all my hair and I am going to send this right now before I have to get up and be a Yorkie mom…I can’t THANK YOU ALL enough . Pleas keep your eyes open for all my cries for help. I already have a list of questions and when time allows I will find the proper thread to write them in……..Tyson and Myleigh say HI to all of your Yorkies and one day hope to be able to meet some of you….. I just wanted to thank EVERYONE that took a minute to send us well wishes and info on the new baby Myleigh. My fiancé took her to the vet Friday and she is parasite free……..YIPPEEE…..HOWEVER, I now feel like there is always something wrong with her. I keep comparing her to her big brother, TYSON, who has hand NO health problems. I know they are all different in their own ways but I cant help but compare. My fiancé said that she may be acting a bit strange because she misses her brother, who has been at G mas since Easter. I argued with him but sure enough the vet said the same thing. Puppies need their pack and a new pup even more so. A puppy that comes into a house with one of them already established in the home needs her big brother even more because she looks to him for direction. Although she lies in wait for him and attacks him every chance she gets, I guess TJ ( my fiance ) was right she needs him and I guess she really does love him. Tyson has been such a trooper and I will write about that in another section. My last concern is what do I look for or what type of things will Yorkies do when their bellies ache? She seems to lay all the way stretched out as far as she can a lot..?? Please keep your eyes out for more cries for help from us in other different threads..She is so much different then Tyson, he was so easy and healthy I cant believe we got her from the same breeder…and I will be venting on that issue when I can write about that without using all 4 letter words………. THANK YOU EVERYONE. This is the ONLY place I get Yorkie info that gives me piece of mind.. |

| so glad she is parasite fee. Poor girl has been thru so much. I can't imagine stretching out means she has a belly ache. Why do you think she has a belly ache? When will Ty be back so the 2 can have each other to play with? Glad he wasn't there for all her horrid problems.

| that's great she's worm free. I'm just now reading, sorry. I was thinking it could have been the worms crawling in her and making their way out that was driving her batty |
