Default Chanel ate Chocolate again

Well after our yearly easter egg hunt. The neighborhood kids came over to play with my 3 kids. Someone must have left their basket out in the open.A few minutes after I had warned them about not leaving any chocolate laying around. There she was dashing under my bed with a small receess pieces in her little mouth. We got it out of her mouth before she could eat it but she still got a little nibble. She did it last halloween too. My question now is.. How do I know if its enough to be toxic? This is not my first time down this road. It happened to me last halloween. She got a little hyper and then she was fine. She seems to have done the same runnning around like she didi last time. She sleeping quietly on my bed right now.I just want to make sure to know what signs to watch out for.

My babies got into some chocolate chip cookies that were baked. I gave them some hydro peroxide. My daughter left them where they could get to them. I was unsure on how much they are. I gave them a 1/2 teaspoon and waited about 15min they vomited and was ok after that. I kept an eye on them.

Chanel has actually thrown up twice. She always throws up anything that she is not used to eating. Do you think I should still give her the hydrogen peroxide? I read online that she may throw up even if she didnt have alot of chocolate. Although she looks fine Im kinda getting worried. I stepped out for a little while and I hope she didnt have more chocolate while I was gone.My daughters told me they kept an eye on her and made sure she didnt have more. But you know how these dogs are. They are little scavengers.

Am going through this EXACT same thing right now, Isaiah (our now 82 pound boxer boy) ate a whole flippin pound of a chocolate easter rabbit last night. I called the ER vet and talked to some friends of mine that are vet techs and thank God that he's a fatty boy right now, if he was any lighter in weight, it would have been a toxic level for him. Here's a link my friend sent to me last night that tells about the ammounts of toxidity, hope it helps and I hope your baby is ok:

Its the dark chocolate and bakers chocolate you really have to worry about. Milk chocolate wont do much unless its a really large amount. It is very safe to induce vommiting if you think she had a large amount. My vet said if my dog ate half a herseys milk chocolate bar they would be fine its just not concentrated enough. Glad she is acting better now!

Reeses pieces have no chocolate in them, just peanut butter and a ton of sugar

If she's still throwing up, make sure she gets lots of water and let her tummy rest for a few hours before letting her eat anything else. I hope she feels better soon

One little piece isn't going to hurt them..it's the dark chocolate that is the worse..My brother used to give his yorkie one to two m&m's she's 8 years old now, and still very healthy..I know my son called me one night about 2 mos ago(they have my little girls brother), he wa so upset because Teddy got ahold of a peanut m&m that had fallen on the floor and they didn't know it had fallen..he was so upset..I told him one peanut m&m isn't going to kill Teddy..he's just a little guy, so my son was so worried..

I had an 8 pound poodle for 18 years and she ate chocolate every single day of her life. It was truly her favorite thing in life. Of corse this was back b4 the media hyped up everything, and Im NOT saying that it is OK to give your dogs chocolate, but for her, it was her love, besides me. When I had her put to sleep, she was almost 19, and she died with a lil chocky chip on her tongue. She loved milk chocolate so thats what she got. She had a wonderful life. She was happy and healthy for all her years. I still miss her everyday.

So sometimes you find the "different" one in the bunch, I know I sure did.

My yorkies dont get chocky but Im sure theyd love it if they got their lil mits on it just like their mom!

Default Thanks everyone

I swear I didn't barely sleep a wink last night.I usually dont let her sleep in bed with us because Im afraid to crush her.Last night I let her sleep on the bed right against my chest where I could feel every movement she made. I was afraid if I put her in her crate she would get sick and I wouldnt know it.I think she had a bit more than just a nibble of chocolate. Both times she threw up there was some chocolate in her vomit. And God was she hyper. She was running around like a maniac.Everytime i heard her running around I would look and only saw the back of her little tail zooming past me.I tell you these doggies are little maniacs. But you know what I love my little creep so much, I guess I freak everytime I think I may loose her.My kids tell me shes the favorite child and the most spolied in the house.I have to say i agree. thank you guys for all your help.
