Default Scooter's done something to his leg!

Scooter bolted into the backyard while ago, like he usually does...he loves to chase squirrels. He started screaming and I looked out and he was holding his leg up. He's walking on it now, not whimpering or anything, but he walks like we would if we had a stone bruise or a cut on our foot. I've checked his pads, nothing, and the yard is grass. Any ideas? I've set up the play pen in the living room so that he doesn't start rough housing, but, in the meantime until I can get him to the vet does anyone have any idea of what he may have done?

Did he step on a bee or spider or something? I hope he feels better!

I really don't think so. I mean it happened about 30 seconds after he ran out. I guess it's possible, but there's no swelling or any other indication of a bite or sting.

my guess would be lp or a torn acl. Some will still toe touch after an acl injury.

The bolting is also a key to an acl injury.

aww... it's ok... many of us are dealing with LP.. but even if the vet says it is stage 1 or 2.. some dogs stay in that stage all their life... having LP doenst' mean surgery right away. sending a big hug!

Default Ya'll are wonderful! OK, I'm a Southern girl!

Thank you all so much for responding so quickly. I thought of LP, and I know alot of our babies have it, but it really upsets me. I'm probably overreacting. I'll take him to the vet tomorrow and get a definitive answer. Right now, hubby is lying on the sofa with Scooter on his chest and he has his arms wrapped around him to keep him from trying to jump off. We love our baby. I have such a massive headache and I know it's from worry. I'll let you know what the vet says. Thanks again...we appreciate it so much.

oh hunny... i feel so bad.. i hope we havne't upset you... when i first found out layla had stage 1 i was very very upset.... but i think now i am used to it and i see that it is very common around here (unfortunatley) if you find out that it is LP... and you are still in contact with your breeder.. let them know.. sometimes they test for it and it doenst' show but it might be helpful for them to know one of their litters had LP.
Let us know what the vet says... we are here for support if you search Gracie2006 threads... her little Gracie just had surgery for it and is doing really really well.. she had both legs done. Also Tatum (stedmansmommy) will be having it done in the near future... so you can watch her threads to see what it is all about.. but please keep in mind they can live their whole lives with stage 1 or 2

Thanks Marci. No, ya'll haven't upset me in the least. It's exactly what I thought, I guess I was just hoping someone would tell me that it wasn't so. I know how much you love Layla, so I know how upset you must have been too. I'm sure all of us react the same way. Anyway, hugs to you and Layla, and I'll let you know what the vet says.
