Default Maggy May Needs Some Prayers

Two days ago Maggy got to a bag of Yesterdays News cat litter in my bedroom. I had it on the entertainment center on the shelf where she couldn't reach it, (so I thought.) I had her blocked off in my room in her play area where I thought she'd be safe cause I was cleaning and couldn't keep a 100% watch on here. I went in to check on her and here she had taken her lil couch and moved it over in front of the entertainment stand and was standing on the back of the couch and had chewed a lil whole in the bag of cat litter and had eaten some. She had done ok for two days, no loose stools or anything like that, but then earlier this evening, she got diarreaha (sp.) A lil later she started to pass blood with it. I could tell she didn't feel good cause all she wanted was for me to pick her up and hold her and normally she's a girl that wants to run, run, run. With the amount of diarreaha she had, I was afraid her sugar would go low, so I put some Kayro syrup on the tip of my finger and let her lick it off and I started forcing fluids giving it to her orally with a syringe. I mixed a lil kayro in with the water as well. She feels a bit hot to the touch and when she kisses my face, her lil tongue feels hot to. I laid in bed with her for a bit cause she was shivering and so I laid her on my chest and put her lil blanket on her till she fell asleep and wasn't shivering, then I took the blanket partly off her. When she's wake up, I'd put her on her puppy pad and she'd pee and have the scoots again, but eventually, the blood lessoned and finally stopped. This last time she went, I seen some clumps int he diarreaha, so I took a Q-tip and got it out and seen it is indeed the Yesterdays News cat litter. Some of you may know the rough start Maggy had in life and I just worry so much about her. Everytime any single lil thing happens, I freak, my heart sinks and I get so upset cause I just want her to be healthy and ok. I'm calling my vet first thing at 7 AM and seeing if I can take her in. Even though the bleeding has stopped, I'd feel so much better if he took a look at her. Some prayers that she gets through the night ok and that she'll be ok would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance. I did move the bag of litter when I seen her on the back of her lil couch and that she had chewed into the bag. Do you think she'll be ok? Has anyones furbabies every gotten a hold of any Yesterdays News Cat Litter? if so, did they have the scoots and pass blood with it? I'm just so worried about her. I feel so bad for putting the litter there, I honestly didn't think there was any way in the world she could reach it.

I'm sorry she's been sick. Hope she gets better ASAP. I'm sure she'll be fine. If she stops eating, gets lethargic, and won't poop for over a day I'd worry about a blockage..just keep an eye on her

If the litter you are using is clumping, what would keep it from clumping in the digestive track? Scary! What is it with dogs and cat litter? I have the area where our cat's box and food are blocked off with a gate. She still drags litter out of that area because she has long, long hair on the bottom of her feet. (I do trim it.) My Pommie is fascinated by the crystal chips and chomps each one he can find before I vacuum. Now why does he crunch each tiny crystal and he won't chew his food? Guess until I can understand "dog" I'll be kept in the dark.

I'm glad you are taking her to the vet. I'd be worried that it clumped inside her and caused a blockage.

Please keep us posted!

Yesterdays News isn't clumping litter, it's actully newspaper formed into pellets. My cat is a persian and also has very long hair and yep, she ends up either flinging some out of her box (which is put up to where Maggy can't reach it, or, Justice has some on her when she gets out and it falls onto the floor. I'm very careful to pick any up that I see but I swear, Maggy as bionic vision, as she seems to find so much stuff even RIGHT AFTER I sweep or run the sweeper. I'd never use clumping litter, even if I didn't have dogs, I mean, come on, what we these people thinking when they made this stuff, that out cats would never have a taste or it?! It'd be like a cement particle sitting in there intestines

I want to thank you all for the prayers and good thoughts for Maggy, she hasn't passed anymore blood since last night, butt hen she hasn't had a bowel movement this AM either. She got up and was her happy lil self, drank water, ate her food and wanted to play. Right now she's curled up in my lap waiting to go to the vet. He appointment is at 10 this AM, I'd have taken her in at 7 but the vet does all his surgeries up until 10, they gave me the first available appointment after his surgeries this AM. I was reading and I'm getting a bit more worried though. I read that a pup can actually come down with parvo up to 14 days after having been vaccinated for parvo, and yesterday made 14 days that Maggy was able to get her very first set of shots because of how sick she was when she came to us. I pray I'm just worrying to much, I just want her to be ok. She doesn't ACT sick, I mean, she gives me kisses and is alert and. The vet asked me to bring a fecal sample in, I sure hope she passes something before we go. Normally she would have pooped by now. God I hope she doesn't have a blockage or parvo. Please keep the prayers coming and I'll post just as soon as I get back from the vet today. Thanks in advance.

Aww, poor baby! It sounds like you did all the right things and that she'll probably be fine. I'm glad you're taking her to the vet anyway, though, better safe than sorry. You're a good Mommy
